What a beautiful day in Rocky Mountain National Park! Snow melt was ripping, and I fished this lovely little river. Using my Suntech Tenkarabum Traveler 27, I cast little size 10 jigged streamers into small eddies and calmer pockets where the fish were hanging to get away from the stronger currents.
I ended up catching a dozen or so Brook Trout, and this rod was a pure joy. The Traveler 27 weighs just .9 ounces, and is 9 feet long. It's absolutely wild. It feels like a magic wand in your hand. When even a 9 inch brookie gets on the line, man, it feels like a battle. So much fun using these lightweight rods for smaller headwaters fishing.

It would be nice and make your videos more interesting if you could tell us the length of the rod used and who makes it, the size and length of line used, the net maker and such. You are doing a great job on describing the flies and the video as a whole. Thank you so much for filming them..and making them available...K.

I was just out there last week and I think I fished a similar area. I fish similiar streams in the N. GA mountains. Wondered what shoes you are using and if it works well while wading? I grew up wading in tennis shoes and shorts and still pretty close to that set up, but looking for shoes with a little more grip but rather not spend crazy bucks for traditional fly fishing boots/shoes. Thanks,

Nice! I'd love to do some fishing in Appalachia. I use the Croc Bistro model. It's gotta be Bistro. They have insane grip on wet rocks, the best I've ever used. Problems with them, they can act a bit like a sail in fast current and of course they let in some stray pebbles here and there. But I love them. Your mileage may vary of course, because they sure don't seem to be a popular option among the community :)

Great vid and great channel, glad I found you! Do you tie your own flies if so do you have any instructional vids on that cdc pattern, or did you buy it?

Hey Kev! Thanks man, glad you found it as well. I do tie my own flies. That CDC streamer is one of my most requested videos/tutorials. I kind of love creating videos of fishing instead of tying, but hopefully I'll get around to it! This video is where I got the idea originally - kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6G9ZnScgLZljMk

What are you using for a line? How long is it?
@FlickyFlies
@FlickyFlies 3 жыл бұрын
@@geoffbippes6015 I'm using some size #4 level line, with a section of indicator material that alternates white, green, orange, to a tippet ring, followed by ~2-3 feet of 6x tippet. The rod is 9 feet in length, so the level line is about 7.5 feet, followed by a foot of the indicator material, followed by the tippet. Hope that helps!

Do you have a video reference for micro-streamer fly or a recipe? Looks easy to tie and it works, too!

If you look up a CDC micro bigger on KZbin Tim Cammisas channel should pop up. The one in the thumbnail is pink. That’s basically the pattern I’ve been tying. It’s been killer.

Thanks dude!! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I've got 5 more I've filmed recently on deck, had some really great fishing / filming days, just gotta get editing! This streamer pattern just crushes it all the time, it's so great. This one has a 3.8mm tungsten bead on it, and with the smaller profile it gets down quickly, don't hesitate to try it on some bigger rivers too!

which rod? 1oz total?? crazy! also, what’s the recipe for the streamer? great vid as always
@FlickyFlies
@FlickyFlies 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude. It’s .9 ounces if we getting county!! It’s a Suntech Tenkarabum Traveler 27. 9 feet long. Love the rod, has JUST enough backbone to throw a single tungsten bead fly if you want to, but makes the smaller fish feel so fun. The streamer has an olive Maribou tail, olive hares ear body, and an olive CDC feather loosely spiraled up the body. Tons of movement in a small profile. Oh, and a 3.8 mil light pink tungsten bead (for, in this case, a size 10 hook).

@@FlickyFlies Sweet, I’m in Commerce City near Brighton so not too far. I fish a lot of stuff around the city more and more before July. Unfortunately for me (fishing wise) I have my kids in the summers from June until the end of August this year on my weekends and they don’t really like to fish too much. Stay in touch and we can get out and fish for sure
