Hey everyone, today I wanted to share an interesting chat I had about how we're entering an era where a single founder has the potential to build a billion dollar valued startup.
With developments like AI, automation and outsourcing, barriers are coming down for talented individuals to take an idea and quickly turn it into reality.
We discussed the key roles needed in a 1-3 person unicorn startup:
First is the Visionary - someone who identifies a major market need and crafts a compelling vision to attract investment. This role is all about sales, fundraising and pitching.
Second is the Engineer - even if not the founder, having a strong technical co-founder is essential to build the product and execute the vision.
Third is the Growth Hacker - finding product-market fit, nailing viral acquisition and optimization for retention.
Finance, operations and marketing can be automated or outsourced initially.
The core roles are the visionary to sell the future, the engineer to build it, and the growth hacker to scale it.
While still rare, solo founders building billion dollar companies will become more common in the future. The barriers have never been lower for talented individuals to conceive ideas, raise capital, build MVPs and get to market quickly.
Exciting times ahead! Let me know your thoughts on key roles for solo founders and companies you're excited about.
