i saw this theory a while ago JOYBOY/LUFFY(SUN GOD NIKA) wants people to be happy and free them from hatred (one piece - one happy free humanity) Vivi will play an important role in the world of one piece. Maybe, VIVI and IMU's souls are twins like yin and yang or related in some other way. Imu wants to control vivi to end both ONE PIECE and SUN GOD NIKA. If you look at the japanese meaning of IMU, it means "DESPISE and ABOMINATION" meaning Imu is a pure HATE and if you search for the meaning of VIVI, it means "LIVING or ALIVE". So if IMU controls VIVI, then people in one piece world will not feel being alive thus it will also destroy SUN GOD NIKA since his power comes from feeling of so much being alive and happy(DRUM OF LIBERATION). Remember that the only thing that made SUN GOD NIKA AWAKENING in luffy was DEATH, meaning death will not destroy the SUN GOD NIKA. So if death is not the way to end the SUN GOD NIKA, then how come SUN GOD NIKA JOYBOY was defeated during the void century? my theory is that it was by destroying his feeling of being ALIVE! His friends ( ancient robot, elephant zou, ect) was trick to betray him. JOY BOY now lost his hope and surrenders to IMU(hate) loosing the power of the SUN GOD NIKA because he does not feel ALIVE anymore and wrote a letter to POSEIDON (poneglyph in fishman island) for not fulfilling his promise to end hatreds(IMU) and put JOY to everyone's heart(ONE PIECE - One Happy Free Humanity) and that he also said in the letter that someone in the future will fulfill his promise (SUN GOD NIKA LUFFY)
