I dont know, the bubbling could be a bubble shield trap, i.e. Vegapunk expected the gorosei to come there and set up a trap. I would have to check the onomatopoeia of the shield`s sound, but I cant right no. Fun Fact: The cured shark meat is greenland shark (and other sleeper sharks) meat and highly supervised, as they reproduce extremely slow and are prone to extinction. Iirc no more than 200 can be caught and processed each year. The sharks are also poisonous to humans and need to be specially prepared, wherein the fatal urea content of the shark turns into the ammonia and the meat becomes edible.

I think the Gorosei are using a type of advance armamment Haki, we know the Rio (Ryo don't remember how to write it up) is the offensive way, so maybe a defensive advance armamment Haki, so tough that actually can hurt Luffy. You know that Haki means Will power and knowing that the Gorosei has the keep power for the last 800 years can actually make it stronger, You know a traning Arc of 800 years for the Gorosei under Umi. 😅

I am proposing this theory. All of egg head and the situation with the traitor. Having kizaru kill him. Lettting dragon know he will die. Is Vegapunk plan to infiltrate the gorosei. York the glutton is the mole a double agent planted to gain the trust of the goresei. Vegapunk orchestrated this situation and he is using the strawhats to generated the needed threat level. Vegapunk knows he can’t just go in with half measures he needed to sacrifice himself to move the pieces where they need to go. Pieces will go with the strawhats, York with the gorosei. All to begin the end game. Vegapunk is playing both dumbledore and snape in this situation.
