I saw one piece film red in the English dub and after I found out Amalee voiced Uta, I was disappointed that we didn’t get to hear her sing the songs. Ado is incredible and I love the film regardless, but Funimation, you had a golden opportunity and you didn’t take it.

I have a feeling that the lyrics for the covers were already written by the time the official music videos released, since I noticed that most of their English subtitles fit the rhythm of the song suspiciously well. Maybe the original intention was to have her sing the songs in the dub

The context of this song is incredible. Originally a song about wanting to see her adoptive family turns into essentially a heroic last stand. The fictional world is collapsing and she is essentially holding gates open for people she knows she wronged to escape back to reality. She knows this is probably the end but would rather go out a Shepard trying to save her flock. I am always sucker for type of sacrifice in fiction.

like others mentioned, likely a mix of things. Lack of time, Lack of funding to have all the songs licensed + sound engineer funding + paying Amanda for her time both voice acting and music recording. There's probably much more that goes in to it but I think those would be the main things. Also the fact that Funimation/Crunchyroll stopped paying for english versions of songs in their products a long time ago, and now we usually only get it in og legacy series like Dragon Ball and even then it's very rare nowadays. I do agree though, I was really hoping they might have come through for once and gotten english versions done for the movie but it is what it is, I just watch the movie and mute the music parts and play the Amalee covers over it and it fits so well, its incredible.

There needs to be a version where AmaLee's versions are in the movie. It's so rare for a VA to voice a Character and do the Singing. It's so strange that Characters that sing often require two VAs.

@bonnietelocole6777 Sorry, I forgot to respond a few days ago, but yes, it has already been dubbed into other languages and all other versions dub Uta's songs (that's why they went for voice actresses who could also sing for Uta), which makes the decision to not do that in English, despite also hiring a talented voice actress who can also sing for her, as you said, absolutely baffling.

I dont think they're identical, Amalee has her own unique style and implaments it into her covers instead of trying to mimic like alot of other people do, which makes it so good and unique. Plus Ngl i dont think anyone can replicate Ado's vocals, since her range is really large and her voice is so unique.

Thank you everyone. It's really really hard because I love him like a brother and he died protecting his mother from an assault. He was an incredible person and we both where big fans of a lot of animes. I asked an artist to do Cleard Card version from me and him (we love Sakura Card Captor) and his card I have the encore of this music writed down because I feel like it a way to be in touch with him still.
