Y'know something? Even after years of listening to the Funimation dub, I don't actually mind the 4Kids VAs all that much, mostly because I started out with them, so that by the time Funi took over, I learned to live with "stuffy Brooklyn" Sanji...Zoro in particular was pretty good, on that note.

I never had a problem with their VAs. 4Kids typically had solid VAs, more often than not. It was one thing they excelled at. I think the problem is their dumb editing choices. I get they would tone down harsher language, but most of their changes were simply wonky.

i like some of the 4kids voices over the funimation(zolo, arlong, shanks, robin, luffy) i like sanji's accent but not the voice, 4kids also had the catchiest intro

I think part of it was not so good voice direction and some mistranslations (most intentional, given it was censored for kids). Given a real chance and without the censoring, I think the 4kids cast could have made a decent dub.

You know while the 4kids dub was awful i blame it mostly on the writing. Some of these voice actors are actually pretty decent to good, alot better than in the 4kids dub. Usopp, Zoro and Eneru are ones i like. I do think the Funi dub is so much better but some of these guys are not bad.

I love Grand Adventure. I play it regularly. I'm practically addicted to it. God, Eneru is flat out broken. In my opinion, the number one character has to be Nico Robin since she's nearly untouchable. Despite the imbalance, bugs, and ridiculously stupid, spazzy and buggy A.I.... it's still a great game mostly if you have someone to play with.

I think having one for Naruto or Bleach would make more sense. Naruto has the Ultimate Ninja series as a base and Bleach has the Blade of Fate game. The ultimate Ninja series has had assists since 2, the Storm series has tag ins on some games, and it’d be a good fit. It just needs a developer to make a system more suited to a straight up classic fighting game style like FighterZ. Same with Bleach. Blade of Fate has decent combos, fun movement and gameplay. ArcSys could easily adapt the Bleach series into something similar to their main Guilty Gear series.

The funi dub isn't bad, but it sounds too close to DBZ in some aspects. All I hear is Gohan, Piccolo, and Krillin in luffy, zorro and usopp and it's a bit off-putting at times.

​@@064razor I think the funimation dub fits the tone of the anime better, especially since the Funi dub isn't censored like the 4kids one. Granted, since a lot of main characters from DBZ are part of One Piece, it can be a bit distracting, but when you compare the One Piece VA roles to their DBZ counterparts, there is a noticeable difference in tonality, attitude and inflection, it's just more nuanced than one might prefer. Plus even if the voices sound similar, you can tell that each VA is having a blast voicing their respective characters, and I'd take passionate performances over cast variety any day.

People kept Telling me that The 4kidz dub of One piece never did Skypiea but Eneru's Presense in this Game is Proof they had every intent on Dubbing the Arc (It was Most likely planned to be the Dub's final Arc given that after Skypiea the Anime starts to get darker and More Violent) but because 4kidz entertainment Dropped the Anime they probably thought it would a good idea to simply shove their version of Skypiea in the Game also given that grand adventure has more characters then Grand battle leads me to believe this was Originally gonna be called Grand Battle 2 but they decided to make it an Action Based RPG with a Versus Mode for those who wanted a Grand battle sequel.

I get why they changed Smoker's name, but I never understood why they changed Ace. I mean, of ALL the names in One Piece, Ace had the one that seemed by far the coolest and one of the most American. Ace is a legit cool and badass name that American kids would totally understand and gravitate to. Of all the names to change, WHY would they mess with Ace? But somehow they kept stuff like Kuroobi or even Usopp or Kuina, Tashigi, etc. 4kids actually changed very few names, to be fair. Zoro/Zolo was a translation thing, and Smoker was due to them not wanting to promote smoking (dumb, but whatevs). But ACE? Really?

The voice acting wasn't the real problem with 4 Kids. It was the storyline changes and be editing to make everything seem more kid friendly. There are actually more than a few decent voices for the characters that might even be better than the FUNimation versions.

+SnowyWolborg Wow, someone else willing to offer the 4Kids cast some credit? Never thought I'd see this! I have to agree a thousand times over. Voices I vastly prefer over the Funimation dub are: Marc Diraison's Zoro, Scottie Ray's Smoker, Jason Griffith's Usopp...and yes, even Erica Schroeder's Luffy. I feel that the biggest reason any one of these voices had felt unsatisfactory during the 4Kids run had not much to do with the voices themselves, but rather the direction that went into them. I found a few of the voices to be fine...potentially perfect, even. With Erica's Luffy, I feel like I'm dealing with an energetic kid who has no idea what it means to be in danger...unfortunately, I doubt she was really given the motivation to dramatize the emotions of her character as well as she could have, which is the problem with many other voices. They go for a very stilted, and child friendly approach that simply doesn't give their talents any credit.

SnowyWolborg you speak the truth, some of the voices are spot on. I really miss the Don krieg and arlong ones! Oh and even wapol! His voice was so perfect for him.

Álvaro García Rly though why did they have to change aces name... that's already Americanized... I understand changing zoro and smoker because zoro was confusing ( apparently) and smoker was inappropriate for little kids ( it doesn't matter ) but ace being trace, I don't even know...

I wish they would release it on console, or something. I really digged this game as a kid. The voices were pretty 'meh' and the translations/changes were awful (Obviously, considering it's 4kids). But it is nostalgic as hell. Really liked the specials and the flow of everything. The little 'mega specials' where they teleported to some sort of 'homeland' really added to the feel and the power when you finally got one off.

to be completely honest, for the most part, i prefer the 4kids voice cast over the funimation one, although the funimation dub is undeniably higher quality and also uncensored. i think the voice cast is fine in media that can't be censored by 4kids, like video games like this, and if they did an uncensored dub that went all the way through the series, i'd watch it in a heartbeat. only thing i'd like to be changed are the accented character voices that were used, like mihawk and robin, although i do like shanks and sanji's voices
