Of all the potters I've seen on YT, you have the most precise, detailed explanation and that relaxed, but no-nonsense attitude makes the videos pleasant to watch and listen. Rare thing, so I'm subscribing.

Thank you such a wonderful video. I did this type of jar in a class last week but the instructor only verbally told us how to trim and didn't have a demo piece to trim after we made our jars. I was confused and this has helped SOOOO much. Now I can trim my jar (which turned out so amazing so far) and not screw it up.

Just found this video and your making of the jar and as a new potter I have to tell you that your explanations are the best I have watched. I love your voice and also the little tips you throw in about why you are doing things like not worrying about little bits of trimmings sticking to the pot but let them dry and brush off - no one has told me that and the time I have wasted trying to get rid of them .. well anyway, excellent and you have a new subscriber and hope you will carry on making more things for us and explaining why as you go - bottles would be great? Thanks from Lynne in New Zealand

Thank you, Ki. You gave a very clear explanation of this technique and I love the side by side videos. I will try pushing the closed neck bit down into the lid to get that button on the interior of the lid. Great tip!

This video and the first part are some of the most helpful KZbin tutorials I have seen. You are extremely detailed in your explanations about what to do, and this is something that separates you out from the rest of the ceramics KZbinrs out there. Hope to see you come back, I know for sure you would build a following as your teaching style will definitely appeal to more people.

Could you explain more about how to glaze this lidded jar? I know that the two pieces should be bisque fired together so that they shrink together, but do they need to be glaze fired together? At this point I am still brushing on all of my glazes and have not ventured into dip glazing. TIA

Thank you for the excellent videos. I would love to see your glazing process of these pieces. I've been making these for a bit, but I'm nervous about glaze dripping down and sealing the lid, however, when I leave a gap to allow for glaze movement I don't like the unglazed thin white (porcelain) line on the outer edge of the pot between the lid and base. Is it remedied by your suggestion of angling the edge in trimming?
@sabinamorin673 жыл бұрын

Michael Dausmann Yes, I have and work very well. No limitation. Go big or tall as you can. Only tip I have is use the whole Chapsticks. Don’t break in two
