I love that the Live Action included lore bits that Oda mentioned off hand or in the SBS Volumes to help flesh out the world. Like Zoro fighting Mr. 7 in the East Blue was mentioned in SBS Volume 36 / Episode 116.

Hey, love the reaction. To your "Why didnt zoro continue his career?" comment, what causes that is the same here as the anime. Zoro gets in an altercation with the marines cause Helmeppo was threatening the girl. They just moved the rice ball scene to the front of it instead of while zoro is restrained. More specifically in the anime/manga Helmeppo tells Zoro that if he doesn't endure the punishment the girl would get in trouble. After being restrained for a while Luffy shows up and through those events Zoro finds out that Helmeppo wasnt going to keep his word. So he decides to breakout, and since that would make him a wanted man, he decided to join Luffy. The live action just streamlined it a bit and had Morgan threaten him with wanted status outright.

Netflix broke the curse! (Excluding Ruroni Kenshin, which is basically a normal samurai story, and thus was easy to adapt) The One Piece Live Action is off to an amazing start!

i binged all episodes. i like that it shows things from the aime/manga that the event/s happening in the live action is familiar. i think they got as close as possible to the source material but still made the story feasible for live action - while maintaining as many characteristics of the character, the story from the original. ngl, im in love with their version of Zoro and Mihawk. not sure about the less woman crazy Sanji here but its ok. Now I wanna see how they'll incorporate Robin, Chopper, Franky and Brook into the crew as well as how they gonna play/cast Whitebeard, Ace, Doflamingo, Kaido, Big Mom, Rayleigh, Hancock, Jinbei and the others...

I am at ep 1000. I understand why they cut and consolidated the story. It would take forever to do episode by episode of the anime. Also "Oda" the author had to approve script and cast before they could do the show. They needed to make it so non fans would watch it also.

My only gripe is the villains heights, but then again who’s 9’4” ? 😂 the whole cast would need to be entirely cgi so it’s understandable, hopefully they get a bigger budget for next season I heard the area where they shot op is booked for the next 10 years. I am discovering the story for the first time, I tried One Piece 10 years ago, I wasn't into it, wasn't a fan of the art style but I wanted to give it a try for this live action... if there is a season 2 it's probably going to include Logue Town and Reverse Mountain Arc, Whiskey Peak, and maybe Drum Island. I don't see us getting to Alabasta until season 3

I was against watching it because live action versions of anime are usually trash, but I decided to give it a chance today and I love it. Also, I've always loved the way Buggy sits down and the Live Action version shows the world how badass/cool sitting down lime that would look irl. Sure, it may be uncomfortable, but you'll still look cool doing it.

Good not Great for what it is didn't expect a 1 for 1 adaption yet they still have a lot of room for improvement. In terms of enjoyment 8/10 but overall 7/10 ( a vast improvement from Netflix’s usual 3-2/10 Liveaction adaptation).

I have only seen the first episode so far but it has taken me some time to get used to the new Luffy. He is growing on me through watching with reactors but it was a hard adjust from my image of him being carefree vs more arrogant as shown in the live action. My only real gripe is the meaningless naked Helmepo. I am fine with the violence and nmshowing real piracy but that scene felt forced to me.

Live action for me was mixed. In some ways I liked it in others I didn't. Tbh if I compare to the anime and am biased towards it I can only say it's mid to not good. If I compare it by itself and for what it is, I can say it's at least a enjoyable experience and worth the watch. Overall (without counting with the FISHMEN BECAUSE GOD THEY LOOK SO AWFUL I'm really sorry about this but I just had to let it out), as far as anime live adaptations go, One Piece is definitely one of the better ones. Personally I liked all the members of the live action Straw Hats crew, with Zoro being my favorite. Luffy was definitely a good cast choice imo.
