One thing to Shanks. People who complain about him looking too silly: Remember, back in the days, to us, when we didn't know better, all we saw in him was some captain who happened to be some kind of badass, but still silly. Remember his very first scenes. Shanks acted ridiculous in some moments. He WAS in fact a silly man who could hide what he actually was and is able to do. We knew exactly nothing about his past. So that is why him looking like this in the live action is perfect so far.

In the anime, they would have to animate him looking around at the crowd, which is more money, so his single stare is him actually looking around 😂, like he's using observation Haki rather than turning his head lol. But in live action, it doesn't cost any extra money for him to turn his head 😂😂😂

POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING Don't forget with Roger, too, that he was already very sick and knew he was going die soon. That's why he surrendered willingly to the Marines for execution. So, while he is thinner and looks more average during his execution, he still looked like an average pirate in his younger, healthier years, but he was definitely more muscular and healthier looking.

Uh... no? That's called being a blind follower. A REAL One Piece fan will enjoy any form it's in, but still throw criticism when it's needed. Like, I love One Piece, I do....but come on, the anime ROYALLY fucked up Dressrosa by dragging it out for WAY TOO LONG. Not to mention all of the UNNECESSARY and CONSTANT showings of Rebecca's flashback story. Or the fact that most of the episodes during that arc wasted, like, the first 5 or so minutes doing summaries and the typical OP song, and combined with the usual next episode summary tease, the actual episode itself only had about 15-ish minutes of new content. I'm sorry, but they completely BUTCHERED Dressrosa in the anime with the pacing of it. But was it still cool to finally see Gear 4th animated for the first time? Absolutely! Or seeing everything else that happened play out animated? Absolutely I enjoyed seeing all of that! I love One Piece. But I'm also not gonna blindly eat it up and say it's the greatest thing ever and it's the most perfect media there is. I will criticize when it's needed, and will praise when it's needed. That is what a true One Piece fan is. Appreciate everything Oda has done for his series, but still give criticism when it's necessary to.

Hey fellow, first thing first... Caribbean Pirates comes from 2003 and One Piece comes from 1998 with anime adaptation beginning at 1999. So, you may tell that Caribbean Pirates got some inspiration in One Piece, but no the contrary. All those scenes absolutelly happened in anime before Caribbean Pirates.

@@WeebsnWeights Yes I got the "making movie" idea when ou established the scenes comparison, but I watched old movies like "Captain Horatio Hornblower" (1951 with Gregory Peck), Black Pirate, Captain Blood, Victor Fleming version of Treasure Islands (1934)... Most likely these kind of movies inspired both Eiichiro Oda and Liz Braswell and Carla Jablonsky group. In fact its kind of weird how cinema did abandon "pirates" theme since 70's considering the past popularity. I don't know how this live action will gonna make it, but I'm pretty sure that this Alvida ship attack is one of the few sea battles of this work (I don't remind if have another apart from Alabasta escape - usually they fight inland)

i actually would say its more 'inspired by" than 'all in' because theyve had to reshape the story, and the characters may be slightly different to read more normal in a live action, i think they're really aiming for translation over direct carry over and i think that's such a good approach

True, I was watching PotC and I do notice even the color-grading, tone, comedy, etc is similar to this which imho is fantastic. Look at how successful that movie franchise is, people love funny/badass/emotive pirate shows/movies. Pirates in media is making a comeback after 15-20 years! lol (like Our Flag Means Death being another show about pirates) I really think OPLA will have that positive effect on viewers, whether they have never heard of OP or are big fans, they will hopefully give this series a chance. It really is a dream come true for me, personally. I'm SO excited about it!

You missed some scenes: Dragon, the Baratie is actually out at sea (while not in port), Luffy's wanted poster, Cabaji, Chef Zeff, Nojiko and Genzo eating together. Re-watch it and pause/slow down a lot, and you'll see what I mentioned. Re-watch it all and slow down / pause a lot.

I hate reactors pausing every 2 seconds to check on something on their first watch. Just watch the whole thing so you know what they are showing and then take all the time you want pausing, rewaching, analyzing, etc. it really takes away from the viewer experience for me.
