22:26- Some people weren't sure what Luffy meant when he was still up & about after taking a Blast Breath (like if it was a skill or something). "Konjou" is japanese for "Guts/Fighting Spirit." Luffy was essentially saying that he powered through/endured & physically-withstood Blast Breath through sheer spirit

Imagine you are Kaido. You have been fighting this lunatic and his friends for like 12 hours at this point. You're old, you're tired, you're kinda drunk, and everyone underneath you has failed miserably at stopping these people. You have killed this lunatic- twice. The first time, you knock him into the ocean- the one place you know will absolutely kill a Devil Fruit user. Not only does he return- he returns riding a dragon, the ONLY OTHER DRAGON in existence, and one you had NO CLUE existed. So you fight him again, and you kill him AGAIN; this time, you WATCH him expire, the light leaves his eyes and he stops breathing. This motherfucker returns to life, AGAIN, and proceeds to beat the breaks off you; Not only is he much stronger, but he's turning stone into rubber, grabbing lightning, like all of physics and reality has ceased functioning, seemingly for the entire purpose of allowing you to get your ass whooped by this child. Wild.

Anyone who hates gear five is saying they hate Oda- hes been a huge fan of this type of cartoony style since before he wrote one piece and hes always wanted to incorporate it into his work, it just didnt come up until now. Gear five is unique (i've never seen an anime do something like it), its powerful (fitting for a new gear), and most of all it fits Luffy's personality so well its insane- the guy is always happy and smiling and upbeat and optimistic unless his friends are in danger, and this form lets him be all that and more while also having the immense power to stop any harm towards those he cares about. Its quite literally the perfect embodiment of Luffy and his desires, personality, and overall nature

hot take: Luffy should never learn the true name and nature of his fruit. If he changed because of that; that would be admitting that this is wrong: Luffy himself, even before eating the fruit, embodied the true nature of Nika. Freedom, Laughter, and Dreams (I imagine the Joy comes from Joyboy). Luffy is already someone who helps his friends' dreams and happiness come true. It's what he wants already. So if he learned the truth, I imagine his response would be, "Oh? Well, that doesn't matter to me, I already know who I am. I'm Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm the one who will become the King of the Pirates!'

Bit late but I think that’s actually a core aspect of the story. His fruit evaded the entire WG for 800 years on its own, it’s not that Luffy found the fruit, the fruit finally found Luffy. I think the crew as a whole will learn the name and Luffy will feel indifferent. “I’m not Joyboy I’m Luffy. Hey Robin, what’s a Nika?”

After seeing this I realize that Kaido legit was being teamed on “Luffy won so he is stronger!” Kaido on the other hand was - Carrying an Island - Fought for the Whole raid constantly with little to no rest - Beat Luffy multiple times and Luffy got himself saved multiple times - Was drunk and fighting waves of Enemies and tanked hits from Law, Yamato, Zoro, Killer, While carrying an Island and Drunk - Was even injuring Gear 5 Luffy in Hybrid form after tanking CRITICAL hits from Gear 5 Luffy while carrying the Island and had no rest the whole raid. Kaido wins High diff.

My take with this is that only Law, Kidd, Zoro and Luffy managed any real damage... with Law, Kidd, and Zoro only giving him minimal damage and making him spend only minimal energy against them. Luffy gave Kaido 90+ % of the damage and made Kaido spend 90+ % of his energy. He only started to take the fight seriously once Luffy learned ACoC... but I'll still give some credit to Law. Kidd, and Zoro. 😊

He's shown to only use drums of liberation once to get back into g5 again and Kaido can outlast that if its a clean fight. It's even shows in the manga when he went against a certain admiral.

I would like to add the fact that when Kaido was introduced and it mentioned all his failed executions it was stated that as the strongest creature, if it's one on one, Kaido wins. Of course we needed all the debuffs to actually have a chance against Kaido, it would directly contact his intro if we didn't. I always remember that line when people say Kaido only lost cause he was teamed on.

A devil fruit power I would want is what I would call the "Lense Lense Fruit" with the power of perspective. It basically works like the game superliminal. An example move would be "Lense Lense Gillotine" where the user takes a sharp object (be it an opponent's weapon that was snatched using the fruit or something laying around), and raise it in the air to make it large, then the user pins the opponent to the ground to let the large object stab him. Or "Lense Lense Generals" where he takes his shrunken crewmates and spawns them in the air as giants. "Lense Lense Snatch" getting the perfect angle, the user takes an object from an opponent in a shrunken form. And "Lens Lens Return" makes anything with a changed size from the devil fruit become its original size. In an awakened form, it allows the user to snatch portions of things by covering up the portions he doesn't want from view and can also snatch things from how he views it with his observation haki.

The wildest part of the Kaido fight is how Luffy straight up dies, and the show has me feeling bad for Kaido! I had enough spoilers coming in to know death wasn't going to be enough to kill Luffy, plus the straw hats "die" every arc lol, never that bad or obvious, but if you've watched this far you know what I mean lol. But Kaido is like that because hes so strong and just wants someone to give him a challenge, both times he had one he got interrupted, these people didn't even get a chance to truly fight for Wano, he never got a true chance to concour it, they make that moment so devastating for him like OUR protagonist didn't just DIE!

On the subject of auras: I like auras, I think they're cool as hell and a great way to hype epic moments. I'd also rather a few extra seconds of a character emitting a cool aura than another few seconds of flashback if the point is to pad out the runtime. My only complaint is consistency. Is the aura rage? Conqueror's Haki? Ryuo? Advanced Ryuo (internal destruction)? Conqueror's Infusion? Is the black lightning a sign of conqueror's Haki, or just a lot of hardening? Jinbei getting it in his fight against Who's Who threw me off, and it's genuinely hard for me to tell if Luffy is using Ryuo or not at times, and again with Conqueror's Infusion. So consistency helps a lot. It's one of the reasons I love the gears, it's a non-aura way to show a form. Just for Luffy's Haki auras we use black coating for base hardening, red glow for Ryuo, black lightning for Conqueror's aura, impact bubble/space for advanced Ryuo (no touchy), and golden glow for Conqueror's Infusion. When these auras change color or stop appearing it confuses me on whether or not that means the effect they symbolized went away. If Luffy stops steaming, I assume he's going from G2 to base. TLDR auras are good, consistent auras are awesome, inconsistent auras are confusing. Thanks for visiting my soapbox 🙏

Luffy, Imu, and Mihawk are the only characters with such eyes. It must mean something 🤔. Also Kaido said "What is on the roof", not "Who is on the roof". I doubt he casually made grammar mistake, does Luffy no longer feel like human to him?

People keep forgetting. Luffy's fight is always almost the childish and ridiculous ones. His devil fruit helps him to fight how he wants. (Just as those old damn people said). This fight with kaido is definitely childish and ridiculous. But don't forget. That's just how Luffy is.
