Legit probably my favorite of the original warlords, I hope his backstory is fully shown on screen instead of having scattered bits all around because it looks extremely tragic yet a bit beautiful : A young and hopeful guy gets inspired by the final words of Roger, goes to sea, makes friends, goes up the ranks then face Kaido, loses, all of his friends are killed (except maybe one, maybe Absalom is a surviving member of his crew, we don't know their relationship but that would explain why he keeps him around during Thriller Bark) and he loses his will to live and is now only a hollow husk of himself dedicated to avenging his fallen comrades by taking down Kaido, swearing to never get close to anyone ever again. His last ray of humanity shines in the form of a little girl that he shelters and treats like his own daughter (Perona). This is all of the info we have about his backstory (outside of the Absalom bit which is unconfirmed just my own speculations) and admit, it sounds like a really good backstory
