The reason you want to keep the Emporio Ivankov in the deck is for the Red matchup. If you are playing against Zoro or RP Luffy and they are running Diable Jambe you want to have the extra life buffer. So the ideal play is to use Emporio Ivankov at 1 life to switch your life out for a big 5 body, then play the little body to perform the combo. Use leader effect to replace 2 life, and play one more small body to buff leader to 9k and have the extra life to protect them from using a rush luffy Gum Gum king gatling or leader + gatling and diable jambe in late game.

To clarify, this is not the only matchup, just setting up a scenario where you can lose pretty easily. There was also a few times you went up to 9k when you did not need to, going up to 7k would have been enough to cause pressure and not burn as many cards with playing 2 cost from hand.

Taughts on tecking in something like tempest kick or ice age... or maybe even the 2k counter Khalifa for the draw 2 trash 2 in case you're not seeing your sabos

I definitely like adding Ice Age and I ran Khalifa before Flampe came out, she really wasn't that bad at all, but the other 2k's help so much against the players trying to keep your Leader Effect off.

Hey Vv. I like your gameplay videos but I was thinking maybe record some playing ranked? I feel like most of the time you play against people who don’t really know what they are doing (which is good too as I learn from it) but it would be cool to see you play the decks against tougher opponents on OPbounty. Maybe make a second account so you don’t lose your rank if you have your main on ranked? Just a thought for future gameplay videos. Keep up the awesome videos

I don't support the ranked system on the Sim, from what I understand, they are harvesting the data from the Players and then pay-walling the results. If Bandai ever comes out with an official Client I would gladly play and stream ranked on that.

You definitely can, but you end up wasting an extra card in that case. If it’s possible to plan ahead and set up that card in trash after using it as counter or from leader effect, then it’s better. That way you only lose 1 card from leader effect instead of 2.

Love the video! Something seemed off, though, the deck at 13:28, I'm almost positive that the 5c yellow Sabo should have been 2c kid Sabo. No way they don't run it at all, right? It's the driving combo of the deck with black 5c Sabo.

I Love the List with the 10c kuzans but i cant find a way to Beat decks Like Enel or Bonnie. In the guide it says Enel vs by Luffy is 50/50 But i lose almost every Match. Do you Play a different strat vs Enel?

Ya slightly, I think against Enel it's the only deck you can mess with your Opponents board, because there is no reason to swing into your opponent when they are at 1-2 Life. It used to be feel free to take Enel down to 1 Life, but with Ace + Yamato being 4-of's in the deck, I don't know if we should take them under 2 anymore until we can swing wide enough.

You really aren’t going to be able to replace the Hiyori, black Sabo, or Moria. I think those are the more expensive cards, so if you want the paper deck there’s no real way around those.

I’m curious about the 4 cost Kuzan. Is there a world where you play 4 cost kuzan and then banish any 8 cost with OP07 Luffy? Or is that too situational? Simply because I don’t think you ever used 10 cost kuzan

Ya some of the revisions I want to make to the list before I run it locally is trying out the 4c Kuzan. The only reason I'm running the 10c Kuzan is to deal with Yamato's, Katakuri's, Gecko's, Zoro's, and other 8-9c stuff with the new Luffy + Kuzan combo. The 4c Kuzan can get most of it, but will have to find a way to deal with Zoro at that point, because I think he's the biggest issue of all "big" Characters for BY Luffy.

Under any means the life cards faced up will go to the deck right? Even if my event or any effect says to hand or trash right?

Any effect that tries to add the card to your hand will cause it to go to the bottom of your deck instead. Also Triggers will not resolve from Face Up Life cards. However, a card like the 5c Luffy (ST13-015) that Trashes the Top Life card to gain +2000 Power and Draw a card will trash that card instead because it is not trying to add the card to your hand.

@@Vvulfrik Do you have any advice on a bonney matchup? I'm slowly getting the hang of how to play the deck but against bonney I pretty much loose unless I either get really good draws or the opponent is not that good.

@@pad5432 It's one of the decks hardest matchups, I would argue it's just a straight up counter to the deck. If you try to swing small with the Leaders before dropping your Characters they just counter out easily or take it. If you buff to play out your 5c Characters from Life and then attack they tap down your Blockers... so it's basically just a hard counter. People run the 10c Kuzan in the list specifically to deal with this list. I'd mulligan for it, keep up early game pressure, build a hand size and just slam down the Kuzan asap.

You said enel is a knowledge check do you have tips to help beat him because I've been struggling to beat him in general

You have to know when to not swing against Enel more than anything, like when they have only 1 Life and a Leader Effect and you only have 1 Attack, but I also linked an article of a guy who went 14-1 at Flagship level events and this is from that article on the Enel matchup: "Mulligan criteria is 10kuzan, 5luffy, moria. Enel’s wincon is to delay the game enough to set up enough big bodies to go for lethal. Enel players won’t touch your life and play katakuri to put your 5drops into life before swinging to botdeck them. The reason for this is because once by Luffy starts their engine, only 9c yamato and 10c ace are able to touch the leader, and the enel player will fall behind if they only have 2 attacks each turn vs you that can just smack 5k base leader. This slower gameplay gives you time to play 10c Kuzan, which allows you to rocket luffy KO everything except 10c ace. A common boardstate is: The Enel player has just played 10c ace and is 2 life. Start with luffy attack leader 8k. If the enel player blocks, I will go 11k leader swing into a Yamato or ace, and then 9k leader with moria. If they eat the initial 8k, swing moria 9k to leader, then 11k to leader if they didn’t block, or 11k to character if Enel guarded. The beauty is that enel will always have to drop at least 6k a turn when against by luffy. It seems obvious, but please remember Enel’s ability. You will naturally win by outtrading Enel."

@@glassgeass Really just the first thing I was saying about knowing when to swing and when not to swing. Also taking Life early against Enel is fine if you are trying to get past their Gedatsu range. Any kind of Discard you can fit in your deck + bigger bodies will help the most.

@@jhaminmondragon You just always swing face with this deck to be honest, you completely ignore their board because you go 9000 base Health which is too big for a full board of attacks, and you just counter out of the "low" Attacks or Block out of the attacks that are too big. Pop the annoying characters with the Luffy. Most decks are even starting to lean away from Ace and just going big with Gecko and winning that way recycling the Sabo's and Luffy's. I can't make any promises that I will make a video specifically on this, but I hope this at least helped a little bit

I would not attack BY Luffy until you can swing 5 Wide if you're running Red. Remember he can't get any loops going if he has Life, The Leader Effect + Gecko turns require all 10 Don

Hey VvTheory and fans, what will happen to this Luffy if Moria will get banned, which he probably will, let's be honest, you think the deck will still be viable or is it done at that point? With things like Blaclbeard coming in Op09 who will destory cards like Sabo completely

If 8c Gecko gets banned entirely I think this decks days are probably numbered. The first iterations of this deck did not run Gecko before it all got figured out, but once the interaction was discovered with the 2c guys, there was no looking back. I'm not sure if they will actually ban Gecko, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up Limiting/Restricting Gecko's down to 1 or 2 per deck, like what they did with Whitebeard, Rad Beam, and Marco back in OP04 for us in the West. Not saying anything obviously, I don't actually know what they will do, just speculating.
