So I meant to finish this for Luffy's birthday, but forces conspired to prevent that from happening. I was beginning to think this video was cursed. A lot of stuff went wrong while I was trying to work on this, but thankfully I finally finished it!
This may seem a bit different from my current style, and that's because it is a little bit. I started this amv quite a while ago and I've worked on it off and on since then. It's basically the reason why I rarely use masks anymore because getting the masks to work took a while, and it can be very time consuming in general. It's easier these days now that I use my tablet pen instead of a mouse, but I prefer using masks a bit more conservatively these days. Overall I find that masking can look nice but can also be more trouble than it's worth. That said people who enjoy using them have all of my respect haha.
I decided to start working on it again a few months ago since I knew Luffy's birthday was coming up and this video is basically about him, but due to various technical difficulties I didn't get it finished until now. I changed it a bit since my editing style is a little different from when I started it, and I cleaned it up and updated some older footage with higher quality stuff. It was a long time coming, so I hope you guys enjoy it! Happy (belated) birthday Luffy, and thank you so much for 6k subs!!!

Lately a lot of people have been asking me questions about making amvs. Since I've been getting so many I thought I'd make a video answering a bunch and even demonstrating a few things. It'll be short and to the point, but hopefully informative. Honestly the more I watch your amv's the more I'm convinced that you're one of the best anime editors on youtube. The flow this video has where you build up the anticipation with increasingly action packed visuals up until the climax of the song where we see the paramount war and end of arc battle scenes really adds to a feeling of spectacle. I really appreciate that you used less iconic scenes where characters might just be laughing or dancing, you don't usually see those "down time" scenes in other amv's. It's almost always about action and the biggest moments of the series, don't get me wrong an amv needs that but not only that. With yours it almost tells a story where the beginning is the softer scenes before a inciting incident like Robin getting kidnapped ending with the big fight sequence. But a kind of compilation of all the different beginning middle and ends of the various arc's in the series. But I think what most sets you apart from the tens of other popular editors is your sense of style. These last two videos "Believer" and "Tongues" showcased this beautifully. In each video you catered the style of the visuals to the song, not just the rhythm to the change in scene. Both edits were unique in style where you added a certain motif which stayed throughout the video or a significant portion of it. Because you matched the visuals so closely to the song in that way they felt like they had a far larger relationship between each other than other videos where the visuals come first and only change with the music. Maybe I'm reading too much into this but I'd like to commend you on just how well done these are. Thank you.

@@oMuStiiA Dude after 2 years I am convinced no one has ever portrayed one piece like this, every time I hear this song I think in one piece and luffy and you hve done the impossible a 4 minute feel accurate summary of what it feels to experience one piece in this and your other videos, I even picture this song when luffy gets a new "luffy" moment even beyond the arcs that you took for this video, and that is a feat that I have never seen someone pull off, keep it going, also i hope in the future if you can you can bring some new videos about what the next part of the story has brought and hopefully what the finale of one piece be, great work, also low key I hear this videos like once a month at least XD

Dude I must honestly say that I really don't like the One Piece anime anymore... And I rarely enjoy any AMV's to it. But you almost made me cry. This one is so great... One Piece is a gorgeous anime. I know that it's very long but it has a great story to tell. I had to cry during the sad times, but most of the time the anime is really splendid. Luffy is a character that gave me hope as a very suicidal person, I think that this anime had kept me alive. I want you guys to understand and give this anime a shot. Because you really can't judge the story until you've seen it. It's beautiful, from Luffy saving his crew, I feel like he has saved me. And he can save you too; to Trafalgar law's backstory, that man, Corazon, he risked his life for that boy. I think that the story is just absolutely well written. And I want others to understand that the anime is just misunderstood like all of us. Please understand me. And when you have the time watch the anime. because it's beautiful. This is definitively one of the best AMVs I've ever seen. As all your works are - and yes, I call them works of art. Your editing is just on point, you use concepts and stylistic devices so damn well, it's insane. Like at 1:22 when you introduce the three villains, show how they got defeated and then later at 1:38 do exactly the same thing again. I also really like how you usually take a look at the more ... well... subliminal themes in one piece (especially Dollhouse!). I wonder why you chose a different effect on Luffy at 0:11, tho. In the shots with the other crew-mates he is simply in color - just like they are themselves - but in this shot with Robin he is way brighter. Does she see the light through him? oMuStliA, I'm looking forward to your next works!

Aaaah... I see... That makes perfect sense! On a metaphorical level you can actually make quite a lot from that as well - that's why it was so interesting to me. You definitely succeeded in matching the theme of the original shot. Further, I would even argue that your videos kind of.. well.. unfold what some scenes really mean. I know that sounds weird, but I think in One Piece we (or at least I ) quite often don't really see what certain moments actually mean TO a person and sometimes also on a grande scale (I wanna refer back to Dollhouse here). And your videos kind of turn the spot light onto deeper issues - Perfectly portraying psychological issues, as well as sometimes bigger social ones in one piece. Such as the instability of the whole power structure and its effect on children (who is in control?). I mean.. it's one thing to portray Arlong and Doflamingo as 'scaring the children', but you take it to the next level and also focus on how easily this can be changed by also showing that King Riku is 'the scary one' - if a person even higher on the power scale wants the general public to believe that. Honestly, some of the things I realize while watching your videos might be obvious to many hardcore fans, but I've been reading the manga for 8 years, watching the anime for 14 years, now and I'm somehow beginning to look at it from a more meta level because of your videos now ^^' Realizing how certain things 'work' in one piece ^^' Perhaps because those are the first AMVs I've ever seen that have real concepts behind them, rather than just fighting scenes with some 'epic' music. Videos that are actually worth analyzing and interpreting. Sorry if that was too much, but I'm honestly just so damn happy I clicked on one of your videos only 2-3 days ago.. still hyped ^^ Keep up your stunning work! To be honest, I feel like this is a more intelligent type of AMV and I totally believe that you will be appreciated in the future as well. If you keep producing high quality stuff like this, you will get a great amount of subscriptions, I hope and believe. One further thing I've realized is that you made a mistake in the image at 2:01, I think. You always highlight the crewmate who is about to be 'tossed' away, but in this image it's Luffy instead of Chopper, right? The thing is, tho: Being able to realize "mistakes" like this makes this kind of video even better, because it shows how much of a concept there is behind the whole work. Most videos wouldn't even include this high level of details and structure.
