One Piece Umbrella Cut High-Low Baby Skirt With Cross Shoulder Top Cutting and Stitching | DIY
Hey everyone, welcome back to our channel! Today, I’m super excited to show you how to create this adorable one-piece outfit for your little one - a combination of a high-low baby skirt and a cross-shoulder top. It’s going to be stylish, comfy, and perfect for any occasion. So, let’s dive right in!
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
For this project, you’ll need:
• Fabric for the skirt and top
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Sewing machine or needle and thread
• Elastic for the skirt waistband
• Pins
• Iron
Step 2: Measure and Cut the Fabric
Start by measuring your baby’s waist and shoulders for the skirt and top, respectively. Then, cut out the fabric according to the measurements. For the skirt, we’ll be cutting it in an umbrella shape, shorter in the front and longer in the back for that high-low effect. For the top, cut out two rectangular pieces for the front and back, and two smaller rectangles for the shoulder straps.
Step 3: Sew the Skirt
Fold the skirt fabric in half and sew along the open side to create a seam. Then, hem the bottom edge of the skirt to give it a clean finish. Next, fold over the top edge of the skirt to create a casing for the elastic. Sew along the edge, leaving a small opening to insert the elastic. Thread the elastic through using a safety pin and adjust it to fit your baby’s waist. Once the elastic is in place, sew the ends together and close the opening in the casing.
Step 4: Sew the Top
Take the front and back pieces of the top and sew them together at the sides. Hem the bottom edge of the top as well. Now, it’s time to attach the shoulder straps. Place the smaller rectangles on the top edges of the front and back pieces, crossing them over each other to create the cross-shoulder effect. Pin them in place and sew securely.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
Once everything is sewn together, give your outfit a final press with an iron to smooth out any wrinkles and give it a polished look. And there you have it - your one-piece umbrella cut high-low baby skirt with a cross-shoulder top is complete!
