Make Sambar easily in one pot with this recipe
Recipe:
Serving : 5-6
Soak 1/2 cup toor dal and masoor dal each for atleast 15min
Soak a lemon size tamarind for atleast 10min
Chop vegetables of choice in cubes
Now add all these into a pressure cooker along with:
3 tablespoons of Sambar Masala
1/2 tablespoon turmeric
1 tablespoon redchilli powder
1 tablespoons coriander powder
2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
2-3 split green chillies
5-6 shallots or 1 medium sized onion sliced
Water to dip everything
Pressure cook this on high flame for 1 whistle and medium flame for 2 whistles
Once the pressure is released naturally, add the tempering
For tempering:
Heat 4 tablespoon coconut oil or any oil of choice
Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 dried red chilli
1/2 of a medium sized onion sliced or 3-4 shallots
handful of curry leaves
Garnish the Sambar with fresh coriander leaves and keep it closed for atleast 10-15min before serving.
