One of the most influential and admired independent artists in the United States for over 25 years, Daniel Nahmod (pronounced "Nay-mod") has performed his powerful original songs for over 2 million people in 45 U.S. states, selling more than 200,000 albums, songbooks and downloads on his own Humanity Music label. His music has been heard on Saturday Night Live, American Idol, The Super Bowl, The Today Show and The Voice, and his songs are performed around the world on a daily basis.
Whether performing for schools, hospitals, shelters, prisons, conferences, or houses of worship; collaborating with such luminaries as Yolanda King (daughter of Martin Luther King Jr.) and Arun Gandhi (grandson of Mahatma Gandhi); or singing at benefit events for the likes of Habitat for Humanity and Anti-Defamation League, Daniel has garnered thousands of standing ovations for his passionate, brilliantly crafted songs, rousing and heartfelt vocals, and personal, authentic stage presence.
Daniel's anthemic "One Power," heard here, was a keynote song for 2018's Parliament of the World's Religions in Toronto and is one of Daniel's most-requested and most-covered songs. Deepak Chopra called the song "truly an anthem for humanity," and Alanis Morrissette described it simply as "inspired." Director and choreographer Kenny Ortega (Michael Jackson, Dirty Dancing, High School Musicals) described his experience of Daniel as "one of the finest combinations of song and performance I've seen in 25 years."
Daniel's commitment to "music for humanity" began with his parents, both 1st-generation Americans. His mother Sonia began life as a homeless, stateless refugee (her parents having barely escaped the Holocaust in their native Poland), emigrated to Chicago as a young girl, attended college at the University of Chicago, and, as one of five women in her law school class, graduated in the top 10% with three babies at home. Daniel's father Sheldon is Professor Emeritus of Chicago Kent College of Law, and spent 45 years advocating for Americans' 1st Amendment rights, including teaching new Federal judges, consulting nationally and internationally, and arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court (and winning 6-3).
Daniel lives in Orange County, California with his wife, jewelry designer Melina (Instagram Melina_Nahmod_Jewelry) and 12-year-old son (and budding drummer!) Jude.
