The series creator ONE is known for this type of writing, he gives his main characters so much power then he makes it clear that they are nothing special, he normalizes them and gives them the challenge to remain human in a world that worships their power

realistically even if you were the strongest, being a hero still wouldn't be easy. the problem is the series only ever gives him obstacles in which brute force is the answer. I mean what if there was a hostage situation? a villain with mind control? a ghost that couldn't be hurt by physical attacks etc?

There are hostages and what would be the point also it doesn’t matter how strong the opponent is or what abilities they have

The creator ONE is guilty of such writing, in a video by wise crack they called this deus ex machina it is a plot device whereby a seemingly unsolvable problem in a story is suddenly or abruptly resolved by an unexpected and unlikely occurrence. For example the times that saitama or the characters that surround him are about to learn something important he steps in and does something like finish his opponent with one punch, and suddenly a moment that was meant to mean something loses its purpose, which is why in a way, garou Vs saitama unveiled something that could be called the underbelly of the show.
