Garou has a weird habit of underestimating his own abilities, you could say he's very conservative and dare I say rational/normal when it comes to approaching danger and fights in general. There's multiple instances in the manga later on, where for brief moments, he's sure that he's about to die, but than he survives like nothing happens and continues to fight on with the same ironclad and rage fueled determination/resolve.

Lot's of people were complaining about the animation this season, but I thought it was ok. It wasn't bad enough to ruin the experience. What sucked was the horrible sound design. Every hit sounded like a muffled slam on a pillow underwater. Nothing felt powerful because of that. They also way overused the slow version of Saitama's theme so that ost really lost the weight it used to have. This though. This ost and Garou overall was done wonderfully.
