One Simple Trick to a Better Zero Turn Lawnmower

I don't know why you bother taking the deck off for these tasks. I leave the deck on, and use a $35 one ton chain hoist and two lifting straps to raise the front of the machine. Quick and easy. With the front raised, I can easily remove the blades, clean the deck, and sharpen and replace the blades. I would leave the deck attached for replacing spindles as well.

Because I don’t have a one ton chain hoist 😅. I have to do this project once per year, and in the time I’d save with the hoist, I’d spend on storing the hoist in my increasingly overrun garage for the other 364 days. Obviously if I find other use cases for such a system, I’ll make that change. Your way is better, for sure

My new Z5800 54” zero turn mower veers left with handles full forward. Need help with adjusting. Any thoughts. Thanks.

On the Z5800 it looks like there is a red knob attached to the handle bars. If you loosen that you should be able to adjust the position of the handlebar itself. I'd recommend attempting to loosen it, and pulling the right handle bar back, making micro adjustments, until it straightens out. LMK how that works.

I think that’s only to adjust the alignment of the handle bars. I ll check it out again. I looked at your video again. At 02:51 in video just in front of the tire. I believe that’s where the adjustment is made. ??? Thanks

Okay here you go. Standing in front of the Z5800. 54”. You’ll see the Craftsman logo and below that USA. Look to the left and you’ll see a bolt. You adjust that bolt from the OUTSIDE the inside nut is welded so it won’t move. Same goes on the right side. Forget about the other comment I said about the part in front of the wheel. Good luck . Water and deck spindles is a big no no your killing your bearings in your spindles they will have time to rust all winter. prolong your deck spindles and skip the water scrap with a scrapper and you be fine. a little wd 40 goes a long way on those spindles.

What do you have on your deck washer port? Is that a quick connect?

Yep, it is a quick connect for a hose. You’re supposed to connect the hose and turn on the blades. In my experience, it doesn’t really work all that well so I generally don’t use it.

Great job! Did you use the deck wash any? I have a Craftsman T310… 54”.. no so much grass but chopped leave build up. I pressure wash the spindles and guards real 👍🏽 good

@@HeyDerFolks yeah. It makes a difference if you coat the bottom with coating to repel grass. Not many do it but I live by it. Works wonders.

Crazy question, just bought a craftsman Z5800 and i have mowed twice with it and it makes an awful squeaking noise? I thought it might be the mower getting broke in but was wondering if you or anyone else has experienced this?

Is it always squeaking or once you engage the handlebars or once you engage the blades?

@HeyDerFolks when you engage the handlebars with or without the blades engage. Squeaks in motion but doesn't make a noise sitting still

Make sure the front wheels are well greased. I had a squeak in my newer mower and found the front right wheel had no grease. After greasing, smooth as butter. I recommend greasing every fitting just to makes sure. Grease till you either "feel" the grease pressure resistance or see grease coming out of joints.

Will it fit on a 5 ft wide trailer I was looking at a Craftsman Z560 Zero turn but dont know if it would fit
