(James 4:7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. To resist the devil is to walk according to the commandments of God that we find in (Exodus 20). Without obedience to our Heavenly Father, we cannot expect to have victory over our sins. You can see in the above verse '' SUBMIT YOURSELVES '' that it is a personal choice that we must make, it is not the others who can do it for us. Believe me, I speak from experience, to submit to God is to walk towards happiness but to submit to our flesh makes us more and more unhappy because the flesh is never satisfied and will end up destroying us eternally. The first thing to do is to repent deeply of our disobedience to God and then read his WORD every day to understand more deeply what he expects from us. The following verse says it all: (Matthew 4: 4) It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (John 1:1) says that the Word is GOD. Believe that GOD and his WORD are one. In (Revelation 19:13) It is said: that his Name is the WORD. God is not interested in the religion of men. He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him. I suggest that you read the Gospel of John very slowly and let the LIVING WORD permeate your heart. I apologize if I was a bit long in my words but God loves us and He wants us to love him in appreciation of his blood which redeemed us from the hands of the devil . Jesus / God said: (John 14:15) If you love me, keep my commandments. GBY Anne

It is by submitting to God that the devil moves away from us.(James 4:7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. resist the devil, and he will flee from you.To submit to God is to walk in obedience to all of his commandments: according to (Exodus 20). (Romans 8: 7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. The law of God is Spiritual and it is only by keeping this law that we can cast out evil spirits. (Romans 7:14) For we know that the law is Spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

A great Homily from Fr Mark with a big nod to St Theresa Liseux and the Little way. As St Paul confirms (2Cor:12 7-9) with his abilities and power he was upset by a Thorn in his flesh, a devil that caused him distress. Left complaining to be released of the trial, God reminds him that his own grace is enough for Paul and his weakness makes God strong. When we fall we can imitate Christ falling under his cross and Gods grace hopefully allows up to get again, uncomfortable, hurt and even broken it is by Gods grace that we can ever continue. Our falls can bring us closer to God if we lean on him more afterwards. The idea that we are poor of spirit is a beautiful grace and confirms our humanity as well as humility. When we pray we must accept humility and our own dependence upon God and hope in faith that we will yet be redeemed by His grace and mercy. The homily is a great one because Fr Mark acknowledges our inadequacies but also the ability to change them slowly and in small ways. Thus he mirrors the Little way offered by Liseux and confirms a great trust in Gods Mercy that is a singular grace, Bravo! What is essential is to know that God loves us unconditionally. He understands us and knows everything about us. Our Wisdom is like wanton ignorance before him but because he loves us he is always gentle and patient with us. All this is more than enough for us to confirm our joy and love in his goodness. We are beyond fortunate, more than wealthy, raised above the stars of heaven in this revelation of Truth. That is a great kindness and wisdom for us all to ponder.

I live alone and I'm quite often totally alone and during this time I find myself very much wanting to sing to God. There was a song when I was in school that we would sing in church every Friday after school we had benediction and we would often end it with singing a song called holy God we praise your name. It is a song of great praise to the Blessed Trinity I quite often sing it and another one of my favorites is The Old Rugged Cross which always makes me cry the sweetest tears! But I think my favorite song to sing is the Our Father, I just hope God has a tin ear because I'm not the greatest singer on Earth!! God bless everyone and keep us faith in these trying times!

Father Mark thank you for the powerful teachings. Please pray for one month old Elliot Peter, my great nephew. He is being brought up in a loving, kind but not church going family. They sadly are lapsed parents for many reasons. This is very spiritually concerning to me. He is helpless. He deserves his first Holy Sacrament. He needs to be christened but because the parents did not marry in church nor currently go to Holy Mass, the Catholic Church is being strict and saying they are not in the right church catchment area where all our family received our Holy Sacraments and got married and where Mum had her Requiem Mass. Their nearest Catholic Church is called St Mark's. I pray Elliot can be christened as soon as possible and receive the safeguard and blessings of the Catholic Church. Thank you again for your single-minded powerful Word based preaching. Satan is laughing at us and I would never have imagined this happening in our family but several family Catholics need prayers to return to practising the faith and fighting the good fight.
