You know what is really cool about snare drums is that no matter how you tune it, it influences you to play differently. When you change things your playing changes to go with that tuning. It makes you more versatile which is amazing!

Yes, putting a wallet on a snare can drastically change its tone, which I found out completely by accident😃 I was on a jam session with a friend of mine, and the snare sounded AWFUL + it wasn't tuned and I didn't have the key with me. We were in the middle of a rehearsal when I couldn't find my wallet, in which I held a paper on which I wrote down some ideas that I wanted to try. When I found it, I put it on the snare so that I wouldn't lose it again - and now the snare sounded incomparably better! The only problem was that the vibrations have constantly moved the wallet, causing it to fall to the floor. You can also get a nice fat sound when you put another head on top of your batter head.

Ah, a high tuned snare drum. I've been at practice with the brass band in my town, and the drum set has an old remo 14×10 aluminum snare tuned deeeeeeeeeep, nothing wrong with that but, nice to hear a bit more "aliveness" sometimes.

I only when the snare is too tight it just sounds bad, listen to any track from black sabbath headless cross, an example of a great sounding snare, on the tight side listen to deftones white pony album, any tighter than that It just sounds like shit .....aka lamb of god sounds.....it cuts better in the mix is a bullshit excuse....don't over tighten ffs
@viktor7m5 жыл бұрын
And none of them is decent studioish warm, fat, Eagles-type sound....that could be snare sound number 2, but with moongel and a just little more detuned. But, I appreciate the effort.
@evieatarax5 жыл бұрын
I really thought the Big Fat Snare Drum did a good job at that, although if you're looking for that warm, fat sound you'd probably be best off with a different drum

mpcvore no it’s not. i love mine, but it has to have a specific tone to get the sound you want. doesn’t work on all shares
@mpcvore5 жыл бұрын
@@austincox1709 my feeling is that you can have the same sound using an "E-ring Evans", which is by far less expensive....

Im trying to get a similar sound as the snares that are in the 1st break down in the song watch the world burn by falling in reverse.. all i can think of to call it is like a semi deeper tone, Rock/Metal snare..
