One Square Inch of Silence

Take a listening journey with professional sound recordist Gordon Hempton to One Square Inch of Silence, a Hoh Rain Forest location in Olympic National Park he has publicly designated as the quietest place in the lower 48 United States. Defined by Hempton as a place free from man-made noise for 15-minute intervals, he has traveled the globe to record quiet places and promote awareness of noise pollution.

I agree with Gordon Hempton. I live on the countryside and I love the quiet. No layers of city noise, no people babbling, no cars roaring, no advertizing, no shopping malls. Just the wind blowing through my half opened window, the leafs rustling in the trees, birds and bugs playing their lovely songs and a few accasional kids with moms and daddies. I enjoy the sound of nature all by itself. So pure and organic. It puts my brain at ease and lets my mind rest. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
