You're welcome. One thing that's interesting to me about "One Step Beyond" is that not only do they not make shows like this nowadays . . . they COULDN'T make shows like this. Aesthetic psychology/sensibility is not only personal but also social/cultural/historic. Today . . . you couldn't find enough writers/directors/actors who think/feel/act in the way that they did in the 1950s. This series is like a psycho-historic artifact of a way that certain people used to think/feel/act . . . and that few people can any more.

There's nothing like watching quality programming, and actors that can actually act without having to rely on sex, gratuitous violence, or special effects. Much better show than many that are on today, thanks for compiling the shows so they can be enjoyed again. Brings back many good memories.

I do love these episodes. They are very insightful. Ruth, a very recognizable name in the Bible, as an outsider who becomes a Jewish heroine. Wilhelm, a very notable name in German history. Brought together to make a point. Everyone hates. Yet, hate has to die to insure that love can mend the wounds that hate has inflicted on the human race.

Terrific acting, scenes, stories. First-rate all the way. The actress who played the enraged Jewish girl was exceptional. So was the actor who played the Nazi ghost. The earmark of "One Step Beyond." Too bad the sequel series, "The Next Step Beyond" was so mediocre compared to this series. Poor John Newland, had to host that lousy sequel series.

Several years ago I decided to go over to my brothers house and ask him If I could have one of two pictures that he had of Jesus. One of the pictures hung on his wall and the other was stored in a closet in his house. I suddenly had the thought that day that I was finally (READY FOR THE PICTURE), so I got ready and walked towards my door to let myself out. Just as my hand was about to touch the door nob there was a knock at my front door, I opened the door, and I was stunned, there stood my brother holding the picture of Jesus, I almost fell over, when I asked him why he had showed up that day he replied, something told me that you were (READY FOR THE PICTURE) He answered my question with the very words that I had been thinking in my mind! True story!

Actually, no no, Anton Diffring had quite a career playing German (especially Nazi) soldiers or 'bad guys'. For example, he's the corrupt football (soccer) commentator in Escape to Victory (dreadful!) as well as Major Frick, the security officer in The Heroes of Telemark, one of my favourite WW2 films.

i used to hide out to watch this as a kid. in it i found a desire to know everything about everything and leave nothing out. i learned science, and other things (a-z) and it was this show about the supernatural, that gave me what i think, is a very well grounded understanding of the world around us. science explains a lot, but not all as it rejects the supernatural (yet it seeks to understand that...hypocrites) while i am not sure just anyone would watch this and grow in depth at such a young age as i, it is my hope that many did and those watching now will. the episode i remember well was the monster that visited and was a friend of a kid. the people in town burned the ravine it lived in, and that in is where my search for knowledge began

yes signs also doesn't explain the answer to many spectacular events is going. An answer science cannot come to is the fact that God is the answer. Scientist are almost fools for not embracing their God. Science only puts limits on kids add the man that every kid must know that God does exist and be taught it. This lesson will be a means to an and that will be the beginning of the start to finish this negation.

I've been searching for an episode of a show. I think it's from One Step Beyond. It was about two rivals for a woman's love, and one of them flew a glider. One day the flyer was about to take off, and the other man stabbed him while he sat in the glider, then drove the tow plane and launched the glider, which didn't return before dark. The woman was frantic. Some time later, and I don't remember how long, the glider returned, and the woman ran out to greet it, only to find the skeletal remains of the man. Does this sound familiar to anybody?

Yes, thank you!! ..sadly todays shows lack so much of what was captured in the past.... curiously, wonder if it's by design today?... I know ironically that Gov have influence on what's aired today .... they have in the past ,Esp war time area or the powers that be 0.001% of wealthy men or Some Say the illuminati or ocult memebers or are they one in the same ? Check it out... Think about what's on the tube today or in movies music half time shows what's shown ,deep ocultic almost ritualistic events... are they just that !?they are just that ?!) If you think the same way think this may be the reason.... or just crappy series ect ? MIST shows anti family pushing the alternative life style aswell.... every show.!... almost like they are brainwashing people.... agenda at play... when did it change ? . Who was in power do let this happen if so? Who bought the co. To make such things?

Thanks for the upload. Great series, and I can see from the planet watermark it was taped off Scifi channel when that channel was worth watching. By the way, when uploading please select 'deinterlace' on whatever encoding software you use. That will prevent the horizontal banding and jagged edge effect that occurs during motion. Thanks.

Is it just me, or does the music at the end of this series' episodes -- in most cases I've watched? -- sound very much like the theme to Dark Shadows? It has a similar vibe... Structure, the notes -- it sounds very close. The same composer, or was the Dark Shadows theme composer inspired by this?!?!? It feels too coincidental...

Not the same composer, but both themes use the theremin (years before the Beach Boys used it in "Good Vibrations"): kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZeod2CrZpuoo8k

The instrument used by the Beach Boys in "Good Vibrations" isn't a theremin. You can see the instrument being used in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4SvfoqXqLpjqK8 and it's obvious it's not a true theremin. It makes a sound similar to a theremin but it's an instrument called an electrotheremin. A genuine theremin has a more ethereal sound.

the ghost of German officer came to this girl to help that Frieda Hessler woman (the widow) to find her husband's body so she could remarry. but what a mean and nasty girl to shoot an injured person.. and a ghost at that! ;-)

My late cousin suffered the same existence as the Holocaust survivor in this story, and was about the same age. The stories she related to me decades later would be almost impossible for the modern generation to comprehend. What I found particularly stunning and accurate about the script was the behavior and interplay between the principle character and the former Polish inmate/partisan. His disdain echoed some of the things my cousin had told me about how old animosities and prejudices quickly reared their heads once everyone was freed of the concentration camps. Despite the shared horror of their existence, there was little to bond the survivors, one to the other. Each person had to search for his own answers to why life had been so incredibly cruel and devastating. Some turned to faith and philosophy, while others chose to regard it as a mad nightmare best ignored, though never forgotten. The lady in this story pursued a third path, hate and vengeance, but quickly learned it was a futile dead-end course. I don't know how many paths my cousin took, but in the end, like the character in the play, she found happiness and a fulfilling life supported by the love of her future husband and children. Love will always trump hate, but keep your powder dry just in case hate comes a calling.
