I think it really depends on where you live in the world and how old you are when thinking about names like Reece, both the R-h-y-s and the R-e-e-c-e spellings are quite common for boys in their late teens to mid twenties here in the UK. I personally know around half a dozen Rhys/Reece's (however that could just be because I live reasonably close to the Welsh border), if ever I were to name a girl Reese I spell it with an s
