I just learned something today Haven't played Worcester since the introduction of subs, and the fact that as a light cruiser, it gets airstrike depth charges, is actually extremely good, and wants to make me play the ship again. Great vid PQ!

Agreed. The difference between rolling depth charges and airstrike is not even a comparison. Airstrike is easy difficulty while rolling depthcharges are nightmare difficulty. Do any other light cruisers even get the airstrike feature?

That's exactly why, from this regard, German cruisers suck balls: they are heavy cruisers with deck dropped depth charges. The only chance you get at dropping a sub is if he's dumb enough to get under you.

What's funny is that Worcester gets Catalina ASWs while a heavy Cruiser like Hindenburg gets the depth charge ejection ASWs.

Its all based on the hull, I believe Worcester is on a DM hull so she doesn't have roll offs therefore it would be a little weird if she had them in game

Worcester was my 2nd tier X unlock, and by far my favorite ship, with an full AA build (both captain skills and the 6th upgrade) no carrier can get more than one strike off without losing all his planes. 9 flak with DFAA activated, comparable to the next super destroyer. And also with a full stealth build the range of AA guns is the same as air detectability range Really enjoyable

I would say the Seattle is a complete downgrade over the Cleveland. Everything is either worse or equal comparatively. The only advantages it has is just because of being T9. But the worse propulsion, rudder shift, gun angles, detection, citadel make it where I'd rather be sailing a Clev even in a T10 game.

Her gun angles are what truly cripple her. I wish that WG gave us the Fargo at Tier 9-she was, after all, a Cleveland improvement-rather than Seattle.

you are supposed to skip most T9 with money. There are only a few positive T9 examples so WG can say: "No, we don't design our games intentionally frustrating to manipulate you into spending money. There are good T9!"

Very disappointed with Seattle when I got her, cleveland much better. Seattle out classed in her tier and above. Flint is also better and you get smoke 😃

Excellent lessons in light cruiser play and tactics. When and when not to hydro and radar. Mahalos. The US light cruisers have extremely strong HE and start fires. AP can punish as well. Soo many BBs don't respect it, just march in on it's range, and then you drop a volcano on it and they have to learn the hard way as the fires just go to work. By the time they try to turn to run away, it's over.

I enjoy playing my Worcester, but I rarely do. I am terrible at aiming in her. Then again, I am also terrible at predicting where enemy ships will turn. Anyway... great demonstration...thanks.

I'm enjoying the vid and you did well in game 2 imo because this game it's not just about dealing damage to the enemy team but also counter the enemy ships so they can't do anything that can wipeout your team.....

I love the Worcester. I actually have Legendary mod, rudder mod 2 (instead of concealment) plus prolusion mod 1. With 50% increase in rudder speed, it is very ez to dodge bb shells. And with Legendary upgrade, my consumables would be ready in no time after using them. Plus I got extra one of each consumables

Incoming fire alert is super useful on almost every cruiser which is why I have it on all the cruisers that I have except Petro. Even though you call it the noob skill, you can't deny that it is super useful ;) Also, opting for RPF instead of IFHE might be of more value, I guess?

After playing for 8 years (I've mostly just stuck around tiers 7-8 and playing Operations) I just acquired the Worcester as my first T10 ship and it does feel a lot better than the USS Seattle.

You should try stacking last stand with propulsion mod. Yes last stand also acts as propulsion mod and stack.

Worcester is a defense cruiser, I built full into her AAA and depth charges. Able to pull 'round 3000 per flack shot. Even super CVs struggle to hit it. It's great at farming ships and planes, defending key points, and defending allied ships. Not so great at leading, if she gets alone in the open, run or die. A high risk, high reward ship.

@@paddington1670 That's the thing: I have a 68% wr in Atlanta. Probably my best ship. I also do well in Cleveland. Worcester I am at 46%. I think PQ is right, I need to be more patient. At T7 and T8 I can make mistakes that get me killed at T10.

So, would you recommend better maneuverability or stealth. 9.5 km conceal and 8.1 rudder shift vs 10.8 conceal and 3.2 second rudder shift?

Faster rudder shift is much better than the conceal. 3.2 puts you at destroyer level dodging at long range

I have an almost 10% higher win rate in this ship than my average win rate with well over 100 games, and I am an average player. It also synergizes well with Halsey if you are spreading fires around and you can get a couple decent salvos on a dd or two. Confederate can come pretty early if you get enough targets deployed on your side. I love this ship. Cleveland was excellent - Seattle was a nightmare. I wish I could have played the Cleveland all the way to Worcester. I got dev struck in Seattle often because of being greedy for turret angles. I only played maybe ten games in it before I burned free xp. Seattle is definitely in my top 1 or 2 on ships I least enjoyed. I might as well sell it because I'll never play it again.

What's the reload on Worcester if you get Confederate with halsey?

Don't discount the AP on Worcester either. It has heavy AP, but doesn't get Des Moines pen angles. On a boradside BB smashing his upper belt, bow, stern, superstructure can net some insane volleys. I've seen 12-15k volleys into supers and at Worcester's RoF that's a dead BB very quickly if you can get his broadside while he's busy shooting someone else.

Excluding german sec build BBs, everything else poping close range and NOT oneshot you is dead! Worcester AP DPM in close quarters is stuff of nightmares.

I run Wooster with Full AA build, and play it frequently. It…still…decimates…planes while racking up damage. One of the best secrets in the game.

My credits are always tight. WG prefers it that way. I only just stopped grinding lines because of it. Now I just use other ships (especially good credit earners) to grind up my credits count. Oh and now the superships are bought with credits so that's really fun....

Probably no IFHE. It gets improved pen already and the fire chance is nice

How exactly is this 30mm stuff working 8:18 you mentioned your deck is 30mm thick, does this mean a battleship cannot penetrate you there?

Autobounce and overmatch mechanic. Any shell with a caliber lower than the armor's overmatch threshold (armor thickness x 14.3) will need to check the angle of impact, and after a certain angle it will automatically bounce. For Worcester's deck (30 mm), a shell would need to be at least 430 mm in diameter to overmatch it. Overmatch means a shell ignores angle of impact and pass straight through the armor.

Worcester is a nice ship, but in my opinion Des Moines is a lot better. The turret setup is much more versatile and you can really hug islands very closely and use 2/3s of your gunpower. Something the Worcester never can. Also the gun performance itself is a lot better on Des Moines in my opinion, let alone the forbidden AP power.

Ok, as someone from the state of Massachusetts, it pains me to hear people pronounce it Wooster. It isn’t a long o sound, it’s almost more of a wuster…like you blend the o into almost a u sound. I know it’s tough but wooster is silliness. Great vid as always tho 👍🏻

A lot of the names of cities around me in Virginia have very similar weird pronunciations so I get it. Try Poquoson lol. Or something that you'd think would be easy, Norfolk, Suffolk, portsmouth lol

@@raw7576 Yeah, we have a lot of names up here that are rooted in Native American culture (Sassaquin, Agawam, Massachusetts itself, etc.) so I find those really easy to pronounce. I also have Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Norfolk, so those are no trouble, but Worcester confuses some people in the state still lol.

@@CiaranMaxwell No problem man, i like to make people to understand the basics of this game which is not so easy. The worst thing you can do is to die in first 2 minutes since at the beginning everyone is eager to get rid of dds. Basically you are an eyes of your team if there is no CV. Speaking of CV's make sure you turn your AA off while playing a DD. You got something like 2km spot from the air, but your AA will start shooting from ~5km making your visible. Of course ships like halland or any with good AA can handle CV's but its pointless to lose your hitpoints and get spotted. Its also includes while you are in smoke, enemy CV will blindfire you because he see where the AA shells are coming from. You need to know what ship is dangerous to you, be aware from italian cruisers and light cruisers with high fire rate. Dont push enemy smoke if you are not sure that the enemy doesnt have a sonar. You will end up in situation when he will see you and you wont see him.

I already knew of the AA thing, and Halland is one of the boats I want to play. I basically signed up to torpedo things, and Halland has good torpedoes. It may not be the *best* torpedo boat out there, but not all games call for one.

The worst thing about Worcester is f2p player can't afford to play this ship. You'll need premium account or premium camo, otherwise you can lose a million silver in less than 15 battles.

This cruiser, just like any other cruiser played in randoms (radar cruiser), all people just hurry up and get behind a chicken island near the cap, and spend the rest of the game doing nothing except pressing the radar button. Everytime they hit the button, a DD insta-dies. Easy. Wimps really have a home on this game.

I can tell you like a game where it is considered a very helpful tactic to just sit behind islands and press 1 button and wait until your team kills a DD. It breeds wimps. CV/Sub players freecast without any risk, radar cruisers hide behind a rock and live out their lives there not even needing a fire button, and those are successful strategies that actually help the team. There is no risk in wimp strategies in a game where some players are actually risking when they do things that cause damage. I do not know what you wimps will do if this game ever eliminates how successful wimp strategies are.
