1:36 I am stumped on for a theme. The lazy answer is Miscellaneous just to get to 400 ct so far. They have various stages - Ditto, Tangela, Miltank, Tropius, Koamola (spelling?), Absol being single-member families. But pre-evos like Jigglypuff and Slugma are there, and Evos like Klinklang, Bisharp, and Liepard are there.

The way they organized all the Pokémon was brilliant as it’s the way in which we encountered them over the years, which in a way I think is more important than the Pokémon themselves. They’re more than just digital manifestations of creativity: in a way, they’re memory. Each individual Pokémon species, no matter how popular or unpopular they may be, means something of great importance to someone out there. Maybe not for how cool they are or how usable they are, but for what was going on in the trainer’s life when they first met the creature. Sure a lot of Pokémon encounters are similar, or even scripted to be exactly the same, but our experiences in meeting them are as varied as the Pokémon themselves. Perhaps you lost a loved one and catching a Pokémon returned some sense of normalcy to the world, or some aspect of the Pokémon reminded you of the person and helped you through your grief by immortalizing them through nicknaming the creature in their honor. Maybe you see a Pokémon and it reminds you of when you first caught it while sitting on a friend’s couch after school, keeping your childhood alive. Maybe you met the love of your life at a Pokémon tournament or through a trade. Every Pokémon is important and deserves to be celebrated, and so too is everyone who aspires to become a Pokémon Master. Happy 1000!

What I find most interesting in this is that they did not acknowledge a separate grouping to showcase the so called pseudolegendary category. I know the naming itself has always been fan-made, but the group of Pokemon themselves exists on their own, being all of them 3 stages, with 600 BST, take a while to level up, etc.

I love the ways this groups Pokémon together. You have the starters, ones found in talk grass, ones found in caves, in water, ones that evolve through trading or a stone or some other condition, ones that are exclusive to a region, ones with different appearances based on gender, season/weather, or another condition, and so many more. It's really nice to see the "catch 'em all" slogan referenced at the end. It was dropped at some point in the early 2000s from official boxart and has been used sporadically ever since, sometimes evenleft out altogether. I was just expecting it to list all the Pokémon from 1-1008. I was not expecting a trip down nostalgia lane like that. I love that for the first 8 gens it walks you through in the order you would roughly encounter the Pokémon in a playthrough (the starters, then birds, rodents, bugs etc and finish on legendaries). It really felt like they were walking us through our journey to show us how far we’d come, then showcased the new generation separately to show ‘This is where we are now’.

It’s always nice to see fans that joined after Gen 1. I missed out on 1,2, and 3, and joined in around the beginning of 4. It’s fun to think more new people are falling in love with Pokémon from Gen 5 and onward. Cuz I always felt left out when it seemed most people were a lot more acquainted with Gen 1. Made me feel like most Pokémon “fans” were only fans during Gen 1 and didn’t care afterwards. I know most actually aren’t Genwunners, but for some reason I always feel that way. (Basically as an artist who praises most newer designs above old designs because they have more unique intrigue, I could never understand the appeal of a good 75% of the original 151. I have always loved this franchise, ever since I was a little child eager to get games for Christmas, and I will forever be in love with this franchise. I am currently 19, and I have never left this game behind me. It has always been a huge part of me, and I am astoundingly happy to see it grow up and blossom into the beautiful games we have nowadays. Scarlet & Violet were shockingly amazing, and I have loved them so much. I can't stop playing the game! I still remember when I was a toddler, playing Pokemon Leaf Green... It feels like it was all yesterday...

I’m already 30. I was just 9 when I started playing pokemon Crystal. I’m glad kids from a younger generation such as yourself loved this franchise. It’s a bittersweet reminder of how far we’ve come when younger kids are feeling nostalgic for what we have considered a newer game at the time (leaf green).

Man, it's crazy to think of how far Pokémon as a franchise has come. I remember in middle school, I was 12 years old, I was talking to my friends while playing Pokemon Black 2 on my DSi. We were imagining if there were 1000 Pokemon how cool those games would be. Here we are at 1,000. It's sad to see that the national dex had to be cut for Scarlet and Violet over I hope to see her returned it another game so I can truly catch them all.

i remember back in gen 3 someone was saying the franchise phase out of popularity and no one will play these games, joke on them cuz its still kicking even if they reject reality substitute their own. they also said the same with Nintendo (yes Michael Pachter said it too but he's not relevant in this topic).

@@phyllotaxis speaking of, i remember when they introduced megas and people hated them and they moved on those same people that hated megas all of a sudden cried about their exclusion like, b*tch you hated them so why do you all of sudden like them? also people act like gen 9 is the most buggiest game ever when its not, this is the buggiest gen since gen 1. also has a fraction of bugs compared to anthem, cod and battlefield.

I always remember when I was at school and someone brought a magazine (I think it was the official Nintendo magazine for LATAM, but I'm not 100% sure) with the newly added Gen 2 Pokémon. They were so new they didn't even have English names and the magazine just gave romanizations for their Japanese names. When we saw this brand new list that extended the Pokédex to 250, someone said : "They said they plan to make 1000 Pokémon" and I replied "Nah, no way, that's too much". Well here we are.

@@raimeihakke1020 I thought it was possible they might stop with 500 back in Gen 4 since they were so close, what harm would a few extra legendaries do. Once they cleared that I always knew they'd get to 1000. Now that they've already done and surpassed it in a single gen who knows. The sky is the limit and the creativity is endless. We'll probably see more regional forms then new Pokemon from now on but as long as they keep hiring new people and have endless creativity in the fans themselves, the ideas are never gonna stop.
