Wow. What a gem this is. Patty lala is a legend. He was only here for about 6 years but it felt like he was here for way longer due to his impact and how much we love him. And mogilny was something else. Made hockey so fun. I knew when pat got hit in 96-97 it was over for him here. Was tough to watch. Of course it was against Pittsburgh again.

That year Lemieux played 17 less games than Mogilny and 24 less games than Selanne and had 69 goals, and won the Art Ross with 160 points in 60 games

When I played hockey at 14 years old in 1977 I rang a 40 foot snapshot off the crossbar and straight up then 3 seconds later it hit the goalie in the back and went into the net. Absolutely true story.

I'm a Bruins fan, but I had a ton of respect for the '93 Sabres and I agree with many Buffalo fans that the Cup was theirs to lose if they beat Montreal. As a college hockey writer, I also liked how they had a lot of former NCAA players like Bob Sweeney and Greg Brown from Boston College, Bob Corkum and Keith Carney from Maine, Colin Patterson and Scott Thomas from Clarkson, and Tom Draper from Vermont. Mike Ramsey from Minnesota too but he got traded during the year.

Pretty messed up that Selanne gets 76 goals as a rookie and everyone remembers that, but doesn't remember nearly as much that Mogilny got 76 as well. Either way, Lafontaine & Mogilny were one of the most violent scoring threats this league has ever seen. By the way, as the team is about to return to "Royal Blue", they better make the jerseys look like these... the 1992-1995 ones were the best looking ones of the original logo era. Really want a Goathead 3rd as well.
