I'm sure they would've checked before-hand, you can get apps like flightradar24 to track aircraft, I wouldn't be too worried. Though, if it theoretically hit it would be lethal as I believe 10,000ft+ requires cockpit pressurisation, and if a rocket came flying through your cabin and made a huge hole, rapid depressurisation would kill you ( and even if it didn't, you'd have limited time to go below 10,000ft~ to ensure you don't die of hypoxia, not to mention the freezing temperatures )

Well done. Was similar to one a friend launched in Bong Recreation Area in WI in 2002. Propellant mix was NH4NO3 KClO4 Al Rubber Fe2O3 and sugar as a tempering agent. Ball milled the ammonium nitrate and perchlorate, added a bit of water to make mixing safer, then added rubber latex sugar rust and aluminum to make a mixture similar to pie crust dough in consistancy. Stuffed this into a carpet tube figuring if it blew up it would essentially be a giant firecracker. Next, it cured for 3 weeks along with a size E hobby engine sized test chunk. The rocket was lobbed with a repurposed vehicle air bag inflater as the propellant ignited. It went way up there. Iirc it did require a FAA waiver to launch it, even during the model rocketry meet due to the size and fuel type. 😮

That's a pretty difficult thing to do. The height isn't the hard part, it's the fact that you need to propel your rocket to approximately 8000m/s along the tangential axis. The roughly 100-200 km in altitude you need requires only a small fraction of the overall impulse required.
