I'm sure they would've checked before-hand, you can get apps like flightradar24 to track aircraft, I wouldn't be too worried. Though, if it theoretically hit it would be lethal as I believe 10,000ft+ requires cockpit pressurisation, and if a rocket came flying through your cabin and made a huge hole, rapid depressurisation would kill you ( and even if it didn't, you'd have limited time to go below 10,000ft~ to ensure you don't die of hypoxia, not to mention the freezing temperatures )

I have a lot of successes but a large number of failures. Need a sucrose design for a 2inch pvc concrete converts/diverge nozzle and the bates grain that will wok with that combo. It would be nice if these videos had some designs as well. Proven results are always good.

Well done. Was similar to one a friend launched in Bong Recreation Area in WI in 2002. Propellant mix was NH4NO3 KClO4 Al Rubber Fe2O3 and sugar as a tempering agent. Ball milled the ammonium nitrate and perchlorate, added a bit of water to make mixing safer, then added rubber latex sugar rust and aluminum to make a mixture similar to pie crust dough in consistancy. Stuffed this into a carpet tube figuring if it blew up it would essentially be a giant firecracker. Next, it cured for 3 weeks along with a size E hobby engine sized test chunk. The rocket was lobbed with a repurposed vehicle air bag inflater as the propellant ignited. It went way up there. Iirc it did require a FAA waiver to launch it, even during the model rocketry meet due to the size and fuel type. 😮

I'm a member of the Tripoli rocketry association. They host launches all around the USA (and abroad) and once you get certified Level 2 you can make your own rocket motors, including sugar motors. Being part of a club allows you to focus on the rocket while they deal with all the land permissions and FAA waivers.

Hey! May I ask what you used as motor casing? Also could I ask for some info about the grains? (Nozzle diameter, grain weights, burn rate and how you ignited it)? Because this is super impressive. And as I want to build something smaller than yours, I just would like to find some info from people who successfully made it. Budget reasons, hard student Life :D

@@Jeremy.BearemyNot strong enough, you need licences for anything above like an E or H class motor, and hella permits for anything above like an G or H class engine. Plus, those shits are stupid expensive

@DIY Space, well done! Robert Goddard would be proud. God`s Speed brother, your goal seems nobel. I can relate, Esties Rockets were my childhood… too many tall trees "ate" my rockets. Pennsylvania backwoods rocketry involved tree climbing and finding your fear of heights/falling boundaries too. :)

Can a "sling shot" be made that propels the rocket like a bullet for x- distance and than the rocket be initiated at that peak to then launch further? I want to see a joe schmoe send something into orbit.
@Tairaa2
@Tairaa2 5 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty difficult thing to do. The height isn't the hard part, it's the fact that you need to propel your rocket to approximately 8000m/s along the tangential axis. The roughly 100-200 km in altitude you need requires only a small fraction of the overall impulse required.

@@Tairaa2 sorry, i should have put a disclaimer on my comment. * i know nothing about math, science, physics, or anything else pertaining to rockets, save for the fact that they go boom. Ha, gotta hit me with dumb guy lingo. God bless you in Jesus' name
@Tairaa2
@Tairaa2 5 жыл бұрын
@@DamasKriss Haha. Basically you need to be moving 8000 or so meters per second sideways in addition to having greater than 100km of altitude in order to be in orbit.

Maybe with a mortar propulsion system 1st then wifi/bluetooth signal with a battery to spark it? If the mortar shoot to (Ex : 2000 meters) and fast enough you have to start the motor at 1750m to keep going up straight. If it reach wifi signal, maybe?! Me too i know nothing about rocket but i like to imagine things and i test to see if it work. Rockets sciences are fun! My last idea is a Starlite casing for the motor. Light, heat resistant, no thermal conduction. Now i just need to get it harder to resist pressure. Edit : liquid fiberglass external coating? Still thinking....
