My S23 Ultra has the 6.1.1 update installed on 16 September here in the UK. I am aware of some of the changes and ways these changes can affect whatever the function is! The camera issue does not seem to affect my S23 Ultra. One plus point is My Files now has a new way of showing when moving or copying files. You can choose the destination while still showing the original destination. That way I can keep track of what I am doing more easily. I do a lot of file movements between my phone and T7 SSD drives. Apparently tweaking the Intelligent Optimisation can fix some of the photo issues, but this will lock out the Scene Optimiser when not set to Maximum Intelligent Optimisation! I am sure to find other changes.

For the camera, i think turning off scene optimizer on the s23u will give it better results, especially zoom photos, cause it is a bug, and i saw someone who did that and the difference with scene optimizer off and on is huge

Just a quick warning there's a new equaliser and sound settings feature which if you aren't aware of could cause problems as in my case it turned off the sound in the right earbud so I thought that the buds were broken until I figured out that it actually been turned off within the feature set.

I'm a teacher, i bought this phone for my creating notes for my students, and edit 100 pages of pdf. People say that after updating the phone, it doesn't give same battery life like before. Is it possible to use the phone for 5 years without updating it? I don't want the zoom blur, battery drain, green line happen to my phone.

I tested both the 16 pro max and s24 ultra at the store today and I still think the s24 ultra is way more fun to use like my s23 ultra. The s pen w gestures and sound effects , multi tasking, open operating system, way better display lightyears ahead corning glass no reflections, good lock, emulation at a higher level w no limitations, Samsung TV ecosystem etc . I'll wait for the s25 ultra

Another difference I noticed in the software, is that in the edge panels, they removed the smart select panel and i cluded it into the apps pannel alongside with the sketch to image option

I just received a new update that has fixed the zoom bug at 16x - 19.9x when intelligent optimisation is set to maximum. Photos are now sharper and no more blurred effect spoiling photos.

I'd say, S23U has better detail at 20x+ zoom, but S24U is a winner at 1x-10x. Don't know about 11x-19x.

Not available in Canada as we are stuck with 6.1 and July security patch. It was on schedule for September 17, 2024. All we got was silence from Samsung Canada and are now using the July security patch, which will be 3 months old and come the first of October...

Finally a great Aussie tech reviewer!! I'm from Sydney and have an S23 Ultra. Subbing for more great content. The curved screen is a gimmick and makes buying a tempered glass screen protector a lot harder. I bought a spiegen for 109 aud. What a joke! Buying the next one from aliexpress. I might even stop buying spiegen cases too. Can see this channel getting MUCH bigger. Good luck!

In phones it will show 6.1, but in tablets and foldables it will indicate 6.1.1

You'll know if you got the update or not. If you downloaded it and got some new options and your phone is running smoother, then you got it! If you haven't haven't gotten it yet, it will still show 6.1 afterward.
