Another ambitious and successful flight. No idea what caused the abnormal issue, at least did not occur over the water. It does not appear to be low voltage, as OSD displayed a lower voltage at 1:59 vs. 2:24 when a higher throttle was being used. Maybe wind shadow from trees caused a sudden drop true airspeed? I did notice a change in ground speed as reversed flight path to land.

Thank, I also thick that as luck .

thank you for the response. I heard the talon 250 was not smooth because of its weight and it’s design. The wind can shake it and it is harder to fly? But if you say it is steady then I will buy that.

If you set flight controller, there are nearly no difference at two planes because FC can make enough stable state. But, if you does not set FC and control full manually, flying wing type plane are more difficult to control than normal type plane that have tail. The other way, flying wing maybe more tolerable to heavy wind than normal type plane.

Nice! Did you have to disable the failsafe-RTH to get this to go beyond control-TX range?
@sacdong6 ай бұрын
Of course, failsafe mode was not RTL, but 'Do nothing'. So, Baby AR wing continued mission flight at failsafe by transmitter off.

In terms of flight characteristics in manual mode with less battery weight (2s1p or 3s1p), which do you think performs better. The AR wing in this video or the talon 250g?
@sacdong Жыл бұрын
Two airplanes have good flying characteristics. But, because they are different types of wings, have some slightly different ones. At manual mode, AR wing pro has more dynamic characteristics, and Talon 250G has more stable characteristics. So, if you want speedy dynamic flying, you had better select BAby AR wing pro. and if you want stable slow flying and catch stable photo or video, you had better select Talon 250G.

Awesome flight! Really nice to watch :). I'm wondering, are you able to fly the full capacity of the pack? Or does the plane drop out of the sky below 3.1v per cell? You mention the estimated range is much higher but if you cannot fly the plane then what is the use? Did you try the trick with the regulator on the ESC yet? I tried it and the esc works to 5.2v now so 2.6v per cell

As you know, the batter voltage of OSD when throttle was on is lower than real one, especially when throttle was controlled manually. The end cell voltage of this flight was about 3.45 in disconnected state. Using this package of batteries, 2s3p LiVH 12300mah, I have ever done long test flight that postcharging of batteries was 12000mah and end cellular voltage was 2.9 at OSD and 3.2 at discounted state. So, I set cellular voltage 2.8 to 2.9 at OSD as low critical limitation.

The ESC voltage control modification that you said is very good one, but I did not try yet because common ESC for drone has no "lower voltage cut" so, usually ESC has no problem until cellular voltage 2.9 or 3.0. But if I use ESC for airplane, maybe need some modifications to prevent low voltage cut. And usually critical lower cellular voltage, 2.5 to 2.6 could not happen

@@sacdong i know most escs do not have a low voltage cutoff enabled in firmware but the esc will simply stop working at 6.2 volt and below usually. Does your setup allow you to use the entire battery capacity now or not?

@@Felix3301 Usually when long distance flight that loaded heavy batteries, last crash or no more flying is happened due to less motor power but not low voltage cut off of ESC. In the other word, insufficient motor power for heavy plane is happened before lower voltage problem of ESC I used to see over 90% consumption of batteries before ESC cut off. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oV6tc5uVZ6dmf9E At this flight, cut off or any problem of ESC were not happened until less 3.0 cellular voltage of batteries in OSD , (of course real cellular voltage maybe higher than this ) but, insufficient motor power for heavy plane made last crash. of course, postcharging of LiVH 2S2P were near full( 8100/8200mah ) Next is another similar case kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIjJpHebi9d9sMk

@@sacdong ah ok, nice. What do you have for thrust to weight ratio? I just calculated my setup would only produce 350grams of thrust but the weight is ~500 grams. Will it be enough for autolaunch? Maybe lower climb rate to 15%?

I’m planning on maiden flight tomorrow. What launch throttle do you use during launch? 100%?

@@sacdong what is your thrust to weight ratio? I just calculated mine. I’ll get about 310 grams of thrust full throttle and the plane weighs 520 grams. I’m a little bit worried if that will work for autolaunch
