This is one of the deepest, most beautifully sad songs I ever heard.

There is a hypnotic and haunting quality to this song that makes me feel as if I was reading a classic American novel. Here in Galicia, Mark Lanegan was like a dreamt character, hardly speaking and never smiling. It's clear that he means it. I wish I'd stayed after the show to shake his hand.

mark lanegan is one of the best, most unique vocalists ever, in my opinion.....everything sounds cool , and faintly ominous when he sings it...

Mark smokes cigarettes made of anthrax and steel shavings! And drinks Jet B fuel for adrenaline!!!! For a haunting, yet captivating voice! There you have it. Hate it or love it. And I definitely don't hate it. I have become a fan mark! Thanx for the great music.

[LYRICS] The stars and a moon Aren't where they're supposed to be For the strange electric light It falls so close to me Love, I come to ride High on that seasick rolling wave And you know that I am Just trying to get out Oh the glorious sound Oh the one way street But you can't get Can't get it down without crying When I'm dressed in white Send roses to me I drink so much sour whiskey I can't hardly see And everywhere I've been There's a well that howls my name From the one tiny sting To that vacant fame Oh the deafening roar Remember that's called a one way street And you can't get Can't get it down without crying Mystery's a sigh You can't get out In a psychotropic light, you can't get out Love, I come to ride High on that seasick rolling wave That's the way that I fall, trying to get out Oh the glorious sound Of the one way street And you can't get Can't get it down without crying Oh the deafening roar It's called a one way street

I heard this from credible sources, but I'm not sure it is entirely true. That Mark Lanegan tried to visit Layne Staley when he was at the very lowest point in his life. and instead of Layne answering the door he snuck out the bathroom window and left the house altogether. If this is true its a sad reality of what heroin will do to your friends

As for MTV. What a joke now! I can't even look at it without feeling vomit. They aren't even about true musical talent anymore. I learned of marks voice through a video game. And THAT shows that gaming offers so much more in musical talent than "Music Television" does. Fuck corporate greed. mark, the gaming society respects you I hope. I sure do. Rage introduced me to you.

I think that's a little silly seeing as they are in different genres and their style of singing are different. You may like Lanegan's music better, but to say he is better is rather unthoughtful of you.
