Using lasers, computers and fancy transits you think that string lines would go away. With all that, the best way to get a straight reference line is the old fashioned string. Long live string!

The construction in the middle of the street is unrelated to the building, and is for a "bus rapid transit" lane. As part of that, they're replacing the overhead electric lines for the electric buses. That is one of the new poles, but the overhead wires haven't been done yet.
