I watched one of your videos back in 2017 and you had said to go volunteer at a wildlife film festival. I went and volunteered at the International Wildlife Film Festival and it was such an amazing experience! Need to get to jackson this year!

I know. It sucks. I was planning on going as well. I am not sure what is going to happen but let's at least plan for Jackson Hole 2021!

@Alex Taylor They always have all the costs listed on their website. They also list different categories of volunteering. The more hours you put in the more discount you will get. I recommend getting in contact with the Jackson WILD team directly for that. Things may change from year to year. - Jonas

Jonas and Rob, ty for the amazing video and motivation! I just graduated with my B.S. from UF (studied Ag comm under Dr. Ricky Telg and met Rob as he visited our class through zoom,) and would love to end up working in projects akin to NOVA and Nature on PBS that I grew up with, and have been in love with all my life. Jackson Wild seems like a fantastic way to start, but, with the state of our world right now, do you have any advice on how I can make a first move? I just graduated and will be moving back down to West Palm Beach soon, and I've honestly resigned myself to starting off building my skills in real estate photography or content production for businesses, as we are in a sort of era of survival for income. I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give, thank you for reading, you guys are an inspiration...stay awesome :) -Juan, a kid with a dream.

@Alex Taylor Hi Alex. I respect your opinion here but please keep a good and positive tone when adding to other peoples comments. Remember, many of the people on this channel are just getting into this and come from a variety of backgrounds. I see a lot of power in that we all have different background stories and am totally interested in hearing why people are here in the first place. Including what their previous experience is from. That has helped us a lot in the past when guiding people forward in their filmmaking process during some of the workshops we have done. So just a friendly reminder that on this channel we have take a lot of pride in how awesome and polite our followers have been. Let's help each other in the process, not make them feel like they have asked the wrong thing. Thank you for your understanding. Best, Jonas

Hey Juan. I hear you man. Regarding the virus situation I am in the same boat. All the projects I had planned for this spring got put on Hold because of the virus, which definitely made survival a bit more interesting than I had wanted. My best advice is probably not what you want to hear but just simply start doing something. By gaining experience you will start building up confidence. Allow yourself to mess up and learn from that. Use the equipment you have and then figure out what you are missing in order to do what you would like to do. This is a constantly changing line of work. There are so many directions you can go and I am so far nowhere near where I think I want to end up. I am still figuring a lot of things out and I am sure I will continue to do that for a long time. Feel free to write anytime if you have any specific questions that you think I/we could help out with. Good luck bud and thanks for commenting! Best, Jonas

Haiii I'm an Architecture student currently doing a masters in Landscape design... I looove nature and spreading awareness of those places that need more protection and I'd be so interested in volunteering in Peru (or is it an unrelated workshop?) Either way lol I'm from Chile and would love to get more involved in wildlife filmmaking 💛

Looks interesting, I will have a look. If it's in Austria that is somewhat accessible to me. Side note: working on colors for a little teaser of footage I promised a while ago. Will only be a few days till it's done. But I got to manage my time and practice for the exams too.

Cool. Yeah, I am still keeping my fingers crossed for Austria this fall but not sure what will happen. This virus situation sure has messed up a lot of plans this year. Looking forward to seeing your final video when it is done.

We are very excited to hear you are interested in joining us though. Could you please send an email to robnelsonfilms@gmail.com with your contact info so we can inform you as things progresses.
