I am from Mexico, and I think it is safe to say that The New York Times has done an outstanding job on this one.

I think it's safe to say that you are a new york times employee trying to amplify and legitimize your own content. Not surprising, from a notoriously yellow propaganda rag.

Many of the office administrators are Native Americans and others are of European ancestry. These office workers are what we call urban natives and those like this woman are tribal natives. The urban natives are sometimes call mestizo meaning westernized natives not mixed race. Whether westernized or tribal they are one of the same. This is true in Africa and also in China. The Colonial systems use this to divide the native population.

I'm a lawyer in the state of Chihuahua, most native americans and mennonites speak spanish up to some level, and they will only be assigned a translator if they ask for one or if the judge clearly sees that he doesn't understand spanish, the problem with native americans is that they don't understand the law, since they have their own tarahumara law , when they move to the cities like Chihuahua, Cuauhtemoc or Ciudad Juarez they go on with their own set of moral and legal rules to guide them in their daily lives, and then when they're detained for commiting a crime they deny it, for example the person that was being tried for attempted murder, he thought it was fine since the other person didn't die, and even in the tarahumara territories, when a tarahumara is guilty of killing another tarahumara the only punishment is that he give part of his income to the family of the deceased, and they settle their own problems in their own way, so they move to a city commit a crime and then are sent to jail they're overwhelmed by it.

Also, the job of the translator is only to translate, the fact that these women are looking for witnesses could get them fired from their job, since they have to be unbiassed in the cases they work.

Is there a copy of laws simplified and translated into their language? If you remember she said there is an issue with how complicated or how sentences are worded that confuse them.
@Xergecuz
@Xergecuz 5 жыл бұрын
@Animated Tigress No there isn't, and there should be. Legal language will confuse even a native spanish speaker in most cases, but yes, laws should be transated to their languages also.

@@MsBimbobear you guys are stupid and don't say the truth. South, central, and north America were divided, obviously not along modern lines. But tribes. Dumbasses.

The indigenous peoples of Mexico are different from the indigenous peoples of America. These are the indigenous peoples of Mexico and their land was taken, not that the indigenous peoples of America moved to live in Mexico after their land was occupied.

These may be of the same race as the Native Americans, and they came from one place, but they divided, and some of them went to live in Mexico and some went to live in America, but this does not mean that they are not the original inhabitants of Mexico, they lived here and not that they moved from America to Mexico after the occupation of their land.

I wish people like this woman were the ones who were celebrated instead of "celebrities". People who do extraordinarly wonderful, good things for the world should be celebrities.

Very interesting that as large of a country that translators were not provided to the accused, evidently. It poses so many questions in my mind.
