I left London 7 years ago to buy a property and it was the best thing I ever did. London is a city I don't recognize. I grew up in South East London on a council estate and they were some of the best times of my youth, but London isn't great anymore, no clubs venues, no music events anymore it used to be a meca for the arts, now it's a city full of crime and protests.

In OUTER S E London where I have lived for 40 years after 29 lovely years within 2 miles of Central London,in INNER S E London., I feel s9 sorry for the miserable, often older people waiting at Bus Stops for an irregular service, getting cold and/or wet. with NO Tube lines at all.NONE, Tomorrow I will go to a 245-acre park,3 miles away and I live within yards of a 185-acre park and the air is fine. INNER London IS different. More pollution, more cars and, relatively good Public Transport. It takes me 26 minutes return to walk to the local Bus Shop. He has ruined the lives of so many poor people. £11 Return daily for 3 Inner London Tunnels, PLUS LEZ PLUS Congestion charge. Just using ONE tunnel is £200 per week.

Legacy policies don't mean they are bad. As for ULEZ, the scheme is not illegal and it also has a purpose. Fact is many people switched cars and acted on the news of the expansion. Not enough is being done on green policies, so this is a very small step in the right direction. Hope other major cities take note

@@drcommonsense1 only an idiot doesn’t want cleaner air or greener policies if they make sense but I’ll give you an example here. What do you think is more environmentally friendly. One of Sadiq khans range rovers with 22” wheels and 16” discs or a non compliant vehicle with 13-15” wheels? There’s way more to pollution than just a tail pipe. There was nothing to stop him actually basing ULEZ on actual live emissions data as every old car has data taken every year. There was nothing to stop him doing a myriad of other actions if it was about health and the environment only. It’s a lazy blanket policy which is contradicted by other decisions he’s made like the Silvertown tunnel that every environmental group has come out against and will once again disproportionately impact the poorest in London and their health. Another example in the expanded zone is Hillingdon which has RAF Northolt’s flight path over it that has just had its busiest ever year and has plans to increase its usability by up to 4x. Most of these flights are private jets for business, politicians, royalty and the rich. As I’m sure you know these are the most polluting types of travel yet at the same time Mr Khan is saving Londoners with ULEZ by protecting me from my 74 year old neighbour surviving on a state pension doing 1000 miles pa in his 22 year old rover. That’s the same neighbour who took the older less mobile Neighbour’s to hospital and Dr appointments but couldn’t afford another car so instead they now go in a vehicle with worse emissions than his according to actual data.

Its other aim is to put the nail in the coffin of high street shops to make everyone buy online. If emission reductions were the aim he would not have reduced the speed limit to 20mph which is far more polluting than 30mph. 'They' know that these policies will cause tension and misery and division among the population like most of their other policies. Clearly you are being very naïve.
