I don’t consider it a diet it’s just my life now. I fast Mon/Wed/Fri. I eat normally Tuesday/Tuesday. And on the weekends I eat whatever I want and enjoy my beer. And it simply allows me to stay right where I want to be. In fact after my weekends of BBQn what I want and drinking beer I look forward to my Monday fasts now.

I gained back all my weight and more. I decided that I would try ADF with the choice to eat what I want on eating days. I have done quite a bit of intermittent fasting, but never ADF. Your video was motivating so thank you for making it. By the way, I’m a homeschooling mom too. 🙂

I never taught of doing 4 eating days in a row per month to keep up with my schedule. I have to admit that I'm pretty stressed about starting a new job and keeping up with my alternate day fasting routine. It's going to be pretty weird too with new colleagues. They're gonna think I'm a total weirdo 😂 I had one question for you though. my first few weeks on ADF & Keto, I was loosing 1.5 kgs / week (3.3 lbs) and now I'm at around 900 grams (2 lbs). Did you also have greater weight loss at the beginning ? Good job on your one year "ADF anniversary" 😀
@MomFasting4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah, it’s definitely normal to lose more in the beginning! I think that 1-2 lbs a week is “average” but I’ve seen lots of people only lose 0.5 lbs or less a week and it’s all good! The cool and different thing about fasting is that your body will be working on different things at different times and you won’t always see that reflected on the scale. Also, since you have a spike of human growth hormone with fasting, you’ll be building muscle, so even though you may see no loss (or even a gain) on the scale, you probably still lost fat! I have learned to ride those waves on the scale and just let it take how long it takes. I hope you find a groove you can work with around your work schedule, and it’s okay if they think you’re weird, they’re the ones missing out! 😉
@1GoldenBreeze4 жыл бұрын
Your new colleagues don't have to know unless you just want to tell them. During lunch, you can just go for a walk and if there are any "mandatory" lunches you can always just have coffee or tea and say you're not hungry today, or you're stomach is a little queasy, or whatever you feel comfortable saying. One of the biggest mistakes fasters make is feeling like they are obligated to tell everyone what they are doing.
@MomFasting4 жыл бұрын
Such good advice, as always. 😊
@TheFastingPanda4 жыл бұрын
@@1GoldenBreeze I completely agree with you. The issue is, entering a new company and environment, most of the socializing is done at lunch. I did think of going on a walk etc. but I still want to socialize with new people. I can just drink a coffee but it's hard watching people eat when you fast. Also, the excuses might be okay for a while, but at some point, people always ask me why I'm not eating. Generally, they want to shove food down my throat when I say that I just don't eat. Fasting isn't mainstream yet, so doing it makes you a weirdo into fads :/ I hope this changes one day. I do plan on making a video when I start working again on how I'm managing this :)

Are you still doing ADF? Curious if this is still effective and safe long term without side effects (hair loss, loose skin, ailments, etc)?
@MomFasting2 жыл бұрын
Yep! Still at it…everyone is different so I can’t speak for everyone, but what I can say is I haven’t had hair loss that was caused by ADF. Hair loss is caused by stress, and ADF can be perceived as stress by the body, especially if done too quickly-that’s why it’s best to ease in and see if it’s right for you. Loose skin is usually caused by rapid weight loss, so that will vary from person to person, but fasting tends to lead to less loose skin because of autophagy. Any other ailments would vary, again, from person to person. It’s too hard to say what it would be like for you. I recommend starting around a 16:8 daily window and working slowly up from there. 😁

How are you doing? I started ADF on June 21 2022 because I'm getting married 09/04/22, and wanted to look as good as possible in the photos. Well today I have lost 40 lbs. Went from 260lbs to 220 lbs, trying to squeeze 5 lbs more this next 1.5 weeks. Also I lost around 7 inches from my belly from 52" to 45.5" I think I can get to 44.5" by the wedding date and fit my blazer that I bought on 08/01/22 size 43R, also compression undershirt! I love ADF. Lookup dr pradip jamnadas I rewatch his videos so many times

Thanks! I wish I could tell you, but everyone is so different. It also depends on what you’re doing now. If you’re new to fasting, I’d ease into ADF. If not, I’d go ahead and try it for a solid 4 weeks to see if you like it. The first 2 weeks are the hardest. Good luck!

Happy one year ADF anniversary Lexi! I hope you keep doing these videos because although there are many ADFasters on Facebook, it really helps to watch videos of someone living the lifestyle because my biggest worry with ADF is its sustainability. I’ve also been thinking about swapping to 4:3 since my daughter went back to school (I’m in London), it would be nice to have more family meals on weekends. When did you find yourself making that shift from diety mentality to doing this as a lifestyle? I’ve never been good with being consistent with something but really want this (even if I eventually move onto other forms of fasting) to be a change for life.
@MomFasting4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Patricia! I told myself I’d do KZbin for at least a year, so I have 6 months left at least. 😉 I feel like the shift in mindset happened gradually, maybe a month or two in? But even now I have to catch myself sometimes, I think after so long of yo yo ing up and down it’s hard to get out of it. But the fact that I’ve worked this around my life instead of the other way around has been huge. Being able to enjoy vacations and holidays without guilt is a really big deal. And maybe 4:3 is what you need to make it feel that way? Never know till you try, but if it’s something that makes it more sustainable, that is a step in the right direction. 😁
@patriciawai47914 жыл бұрын
Mom Fasting so true that you’ve worked this around your life makes it more sustainable. Kayla (six miles to supper) had a video on start the end in mind which was also a good reminder for me. I will definitely be doing 4:3 from now on, as a little trade off for doing clean fasting I’ll get a full day of eat day 😁 but I think psychologically eating normal a day more than you fast in a week makes it feel like you are living ‘normally’ majority of the time. Glad to hear you will be doing youtube for some time still, I’m always worried one of the ADFaster will just suddenly disappear like that guys Steve
@MomFasting4 жыл бұрын
Wai Patricia right! I always wonder about Steve! I hope he is well. And I love that, beginning with the end in mind...or the long haul as this will be for me, though I can’t say I’ll do 4:3 forever. I still love full day fasting, but I think I may mix in some daily windows later on, we shall see! I think our bodies do change and adapt, and it’s good to mix things up sometimes. I feel like 4:3 does that naturally in a way, since like you said you’re having those 2 eating days to sort of “re-feed” or just feel normal, whatever it may be. But fasting is a diverse toolbox that we can use to suit our needs, which is awesome.
@patriciawai47914 жыл бұрын
Mom Fasting I have to agree although not easy, there is something really special about a full day fast. And yes, we can always do one form of fasting or another! Best of luck on your surgery and hope you recover quickly.

Hi Lexi! I love your videos! If you lived in AZ I think we would be friends :). I have watched all the videos, but I don't think you have covered the subject of cooking for your family. I have 5 small kids, so I am in the kitchen constantly, and usually dinner time MWF is when I sabotage my fast! Do you have strategies for this? Or does it not bother you? Congrats on one year! I started in may so I'm already at 5 months!
@MomFasting4 жыл бұрын
Aw yes! You never know, we might end up in AZ some day, we have it on our radar.😉 I think I will make a video on that, the challenges of fasting as a mom! But I guess for me it really has been something that doesn’t bother me a ton-most of the time. There are times that it does. I think one thing that helps is to not make things on those days that are super tempting, or to make sure that if I want leftovers it will be something that will still taste good leftover. We keep things pretty routine, so mondays are leftovers (not usually tempting) or like Mac and cheese. Wednesday is pizza night which is probably the most tempting, but I feel like it tastes good left over so I just look forward to it the next day. It’s so much a mental game! I just embrace the smell and inhale it and look forward to eating it the next day. I always make sure to save myself whatever I want, and wo to anyone who eats my food! 😆 Actually I put mushrooms on my pizza so the kids stay far away from it. 😉 Anyway then Friday is Mexican night which can also be tempting, but again is something I feel still tastes good left over. I also know from experience that I don’t enjoy unplanned modified fasting, so that memory helps me to choose not to do it. So I’d just pay attention to your thoughts and what the triggers are, and whether you felt like it was worth it. It’s a process! 😉
@daniellehale42514 жыл бұрын
@@MomFasting thank you for your thoughtful reply! I love the idea of savoring the smell! Because, of course, that is really what gets me. I'm going to try reframing my mind about the smell. And a dinner schedule would probably help too 🤦.

Awesome video! What I got most from it is to just keep going!! I’m also a homeschool mom and fellow kidney stone survivor. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Mine is finally gone, Girl! The doc is going to do a 24-hour urine test to see what’s causing the stones. Maybe you could do that once you pass your stone. 👍👍

Ahhh that’s good to hear! How long of a journey was that for you, 2 months? Three? 😱 I have my surgery in 3 days, so I’m hoping for a last minute miracle! Yeah, I definitely want to know the cause, let me know what they find out!
@amywathen31654 жыл бұрын
Are you having a lithotripsy or they actually going in and sucking it out? It took me about a month to get in for the litho and then about two to three weeks to pass everything through after that. I still have tiny remnants that will pass eventually.
@MomFasting4 жыл бұрын
I’m actually not sure, because it depends on where the stone is when I go in. If it is too far down, the doc said they can’t do lithotripsy because the pelvis blocks the shock waves. I might just opt for them to take it out anyway though just to be done with it. 🤷♀️I’ll be at 5 weeks on Monday.

Hi! I was wondering if you’ve experienced any hair loss or thinning? I’ve been doing ADF for about a year now and only recently (within the last 3 months) have experienced major hair loss. I haven’t changed anything really so I’m wondering if it’s nutritional deficiencies or if it’s something that’s normal that you may have experienced? Thanks!
@MomFasting3 жыл бұрын
Hello! It’s a pain, but hair loss can have so many causes. Usually it’s stress. Did you have something stressful happen 5-6 months ago? Because usually it happens about 2-3 months after that. I have had hair loss at different periods of high stress, but not anything I would attribute to ADF. Mine happened when I was doing keto on and off, but it was mainly due to the passing of my mom. So that would be my suggestion, but there are trace minerals you can take, as well as biotin and collagen, but usually it bounces back and it will grow back, but hair grows so slowly that it takes time. That’s the hard part!
@paigemya3 жыл бұрын
@@MomFasting it’s such a struggle! I guess I was more or less concerned because I’ve always had extremely thick hair that’s always grown quickly and I’ve also always had kind of bad anxiety so I don’t figure it’s coming from that! @@MomFasting I agree with you, "hair loss can have so many causes". My hair loss, dullness and flatness were all due to a Vitamin D3 deficiency. I just thought it was due to my body's aging and why not my hair getting old too (I'm 61 years old). My doctor had me take a Vitamin D3 blood test and it showed that I was severely deficient. Well, after a few weeks of taking daily a high dosage (15,000 IU's) of Vitamin D3 my hair was back to being shiny, thicker and luxurious. It was truly a nice "side effect" for taking the Vitamin D3 supplements. Taking the Vitamin D3 supplements have been a godsend, I feel SO much better with taking them. My doctor recommended I stay with the daily high dosage of Vitamin D3 because of having Celiac Disease. I've had no bad side effects from taking the high dosage for several years now.

Did you get kidney stone because of fasting. Because I heard that you can get stones when you do fasting.
@MomFasting4 жыл бұрын
I’ve gotten this question a few times, and nope I don’t believe it had anything to do with fasting itself, only that I don’t get thirsty when I’m fasting so I wasn’t hydrating enough, so I am focusing more on that. Kidney stones themselves are formed by certain foods (high oxalates foods like spinach and nuts), and not drinking enough water. 👍🏻
