Alocasia in pon, high light, high humidity, lots of fertilizer… like THE MOST… has been my success story with my dragon scale and black velvet! Black velvet was shipped and has been through it but I got the dragon scale from a local Home Depot. ❤

So yes, water the poles with nutrient water, I do, my Adensonii exploded, I don’t much water the pots of those that have moss poles anymore, it gets enough with watering just the poles, and all those roots in the pole need nutrients too lol I try not to personify my plants either but… 😂❤ I’m still waiting for most of my Hoyas to take off too. The khroniana I’ve killed 3 times now, I’m trying again, I don’t yet know what care it needs, definitely different from my others they get the same care. The variegated wayetii cutting I got is struggling, haven’t gotten any new growth in over a year, trying to figure that one out too Initially had a tough time figuring out my Cuprea, then added moss to the top of the soil and now water when that moss is dry and it’s doing a lot better

I have found that some Alocasia are more sensitive than others. They really don't like being shipped or repotted. High light and warmth seems to be essential for keeping leaves. Also the younger the plant the more difficult.

The piece of Splendid that you gave me is THRIVING...18" up a moss pole! I love her. Oh. And my Cuprea gave me a leaf the size of my face back in mid December...and that's now the only leaf it has. Last weekend, I unpotted all of my Alocasia and they are hanging out in water until I repot them all into semi-hydro no drainage like my Frydek!

I'm so glad to hear that!! I am absolutely going to put my cuprea in no drainage or something once I decide to take it out of the moss.

I’ve had Hoyas go up to 3 years without doing a thing and then out out of no they went crazy. I also have 1/3 of my variegated Compacta left, a portion of that looks just sad so yeaaaappp.

ahh that makes me so happy! I love these kinds of videos, too! oh man, I think I have to say the gigas because it just SHOCKED me with how quickly the leaves sized up and how well it ended up doing! it has slowed down a little bit since I removed it from the cabinet (out of necessity), but it’s still just gorgeous 🥲

Great to see what they all look like a year later, and please don't feel bad about your Alocasias 🌱 they aren't the easiest to have and grow 😊
