So quick question. If you do indoor training how can you check your training? Is it linked to Zwift or can you upload the training in there?
@fondoquest Жыл бұрын
I just use the Wahoo training app that came with my Wahoo Kickr unit. After my session is finished the app is synced to Strava. I don't use Zwift (have never done lol) but will do it at some point I guess. @@Visson007

Oh wow! Thank you so much ☺️ this channel was/is a bit of a guinea pig / lab rat concept as we are exploring YT for the business I own and run. It is very much a passion project still but one I hope to continue doing!

As of today, JOIN now supports export of workouts directly to Wahoo. A welcome addition!

@@clementdup1 yes you should be able to export the workout to Garmin Connect

what i don´t like are the "different" judging values, when giving the training a x/10. e.g. (i´m now at 250 FTP) the endurance-training says some time at 150-175, some intervalls at 175-200 and in between 138-163. After the training it only counts the time in the 150-200 zone as "good" ?!? And i get a 7/10 although i did 100%, what the plan told me
@fondoquest7 ай бұрын
Yeah, fair point, that's a feature they added later on and I'm not the biggest fan either as I seem to go between 9/10 and 4/10 even though I seem to follow the efforts as described.....
@grahamhoppstock-mattson22246 ай бұрын
Yeah, I ride in a hilly city. So I have to deal with stoplights, traffic, and hills so it can be hard to spend all of my time in the exact intervals--though I always average right in what they ask. Because of this my training score is always 4-6 no matter what despite my mostly following what they're asking me to over the interval. Kind of annoying. Feels like it's really been designed around Zwift and not considering the variables of outdoor riding as much.
@fondoquest6 ай бұрын
@@grahamhoppstock-mattson2224Even then I've found it to be iffy at the best of times. I have a few uninterrupted stretches of road that are (car) traffic-free where I seem to hit the numbers pretty spot on and I then end up wit 8/10.... I've stopped paying attention to it tbh...

Hi mate, fellow JOIN user here. I'm not a bike racer or a high level rider, just a dad who wants to be a bit stronger on the bike to enjoy the rides a bit more. Fully agree with your insights, in the video thanks! However, I don't some of the negatives myself: I have a de-load week every 4 weeks in my schedule and the week before the event that is my main goal I have a taper week scheduled. Maybe I'm misinterpreting your points?
@fondoquest Жыл бұрын
Thanks Maarten! Yes they do a taper but I guess was my point is that (for me) it's too aggressive a taper. The schedule is empty the 2 days before an event... if I don't ride on those days I end up with 'dead legs' during the first hour. The deloading is there yes but 4 weeks for me is a stretch, I struggle in the 4th week and I almost 'mentally' need a break in week 4.... minor niggles though...

@@fondoquest Thanks, okay, I get what you mean. I used JOIN 2 years ago and saw great improvements, but tried to stick to the plan maybe a bit too much and basically burned out on it. Now I'm back and am using it much more flexible, I think (hope) that will work better for me and will keep me motivated to keep training.
@fondoquest Жыл бұрын
so yeah, you're essentially confirming what my gut is/was telling me. Were I to follow their plans down to a tee, I would burn out for sure. I equally manipulate the solution with my availability to tone it down a bit @@MaartenOverweg

If you don't have a specific goal, can you just choose increase FTP for example? I'm a beginner and just want to get better, not really thinking about a race at my level.

Thanks for the reply. Currently got a Zwift subscription but I read that the quality of their workout plans is quite lacking. Join seems like a good alternative to get in to structured training for me as a beginner.

John cycling is a JOKE, athletes get the most useless trainings, like "intensive endurance" of 3x10 mins, when they can ride for hours on much higher intensity
@fondoquest10 ай бұрын
How good it is from a sports science point of view is way above my paygrade so I wouldn't get into that :), but as an average amateur, it makes me better and enables me to not have to worry about planning at a price point that's frankly a no brainer. That's what does it for me.
