I work for a fiber optic isp, I always recommend Asus routers. The software tends to be more stable and I have never had issues with it. I currently own the ac3100 and love it. If you happen to live in Indiana or illinois, I can hook you up with some gig/250 internet.

I have this router and since early 2018, all the firmware updates have made the device very unstable. I’m using the oldest firmware asus has on their site. Don’t buy this now in 2019 or in 2020. You’ll have a lot of trouble with stability.

Just bought this router. The ability to limit the download and upload speed of each device puts this router ahead of routers that cost much more. Paid $200 for a Netgear R7800 and it doesn't even have that option.

This router first came out in 2016. Asus is still selling it. Did they make any hardware improvement? Asus customer service and warranty service reviews that I read are not too good. They say warranty service need to be accompanied by $15 shipping fee. Any Asus customer service experience?

I just bought this router and absolutely love the speeds i am getting from it, 236mbps on the 5ghz band. But mine does not give me the AiCloud option on the setup screen. I have the latest firmware installed, but that option is missing. Any suggestions on how to get this working?

I have a small 1TB HDD plugged into my AC1300 router's USB port. When I first connected it, everything seemed fine. Then over time I noticed that the router was communicating with the HDD more often to the point now where it's virtually 100% of the time. Any thoughts on why, or what could be done to limit that?

Hi There, wondering if anyone has similar experience. I have this paired with a Arris Surfboard SB8200 connecting to ComCast Gigabit connection. I'm getting around 500 Mb/s if I connect directly to the Surfboard (Ethernet - wired), however, once I connect the SurfBoard to the ACH1300, the maxim I get (wired or 2.4 or 5Ghz) is around 95 Mb/s. Any thoughts on configs to try?

The1CK Thank you for the response and the article! Now I finally understand that 2x2, 3x3 etc stuff.. I wish I knew more about it before as I already purchased a router yesterday.. I got a 4x4 mu-mimo router from d-link (exo 882), which now I understand is quite an overkill for my devices at home.. We bought this router 16 months ago and it completely fried today. It sucks and the connection would sometimes be horrible for phones although it did work nicely for PlayStation and computers. Still does not excuse the fact that it worked for less than 2 years. Waste of money, invest in a better and more expensive NETGEAR or different router.
