As a piano teacher, i've a tip i would give to all beginner, and this is probably the MOST important, if you want to progress. 99% of people who are learning an instrument think they're "practicing" their pieces, but instead of that they are just simply "playing". When you study a piece;just take like one, two or three mesures and even one line (depend of the difficulty) and play it slowly with separate hands (important) then accelerate a little bit. When you get it like three times streak, play with both hands, slowly, then accelerate a little bit everytime when you get it. And this is when the 99% are failing : when you get the measures or the line you were repeating, always start from the second line (or the next measures) and work from here. DON'T PLAY FROM THE BEGINNING WHEN YOU'RE WORKING ON SOMETHING. Otherwise, the first line will be perfect, your second will be good cause you worked on it, and when you'll start the third you'll want to repeat the first and second line over and over, cause you know it, and you'll be like "fuck, don't want to continue this piece anymore". Work like 30 min per day minimum, try to not look at your hands sometimes, and be careful to relax your arms, wrist and shoulders !

This sounds like really good advice. i will try it as i only started playing last week. thank you .

Thank you for your comment. I've played the piano for a year when I was 9 and I never learned how to read music, so I memorised everything. Now I am 21 and started to practice again, by myself. I'm failing exactly at what you are talking about: I repeat the stuff I already can again and again, and am stuck.

I’m learning piano next, but I taught myself to play guitar and that tip was a huge thing for me. I was the type who would practice something until my fingers hurt and I wanted to get it 100% perfect. I learnt by accident that taking an hour break, a nap or trying the next day helps instead of forcing it all day long.
@user-wn4yy2sz3z4 жыл бұрын
This is true but remember to rest it is really important when it comes to playing the piano and don’t force anything. If you have ever played piano or any instrument you would know that if you repeat something to many times the notes get all mixed up so just play something else or stop there.
@PRICEX4 жыл бұрын
Late this is very true! To anyone practicing a piece right now, notice how much easier you can play the next day after sleeping
@Bananananamann4 жыл бұрын
This isn't only true for movement but also for learning in general. If you feel tired during learning, take a nap, it's super beneficial. I always love to see how much I have improved just by going to sleep. It's like a littlr christmas every day.

Yo, just some tips from a classical pianist that's been playing for 10 years lol (this is long so beware) You could probably apply this to other instruments, but these are best suited for the piano. (Also, I play 2 wood instruments and two stringed instruments so I mean?? If you need help with those then sure??) 1. When you first start, DO NOT pick a piece that's way above or above your current level, don't try to reach too high, it's good to reach high, but you need a basic understanding of fundamentals first before you try to do some harder stuff, instruments work differently than most things - keep this in mind. 2. Learn to read sheet music - it may be a pain but it is KEY to learning all the right rhythms and getting understandings and important things in music you will otherwise miss by trying to follow tutorials, such as; dynamics, keys, key changes, time changes, tempo, etc. Start with learning pieces that are for your right hand specifically, AND left hand specifically, there's nothing wrong with going slow and learning from beginners' books. When learning a piece, break it down, practice the right-hand part until you know it really well, then do the same for the left hand, and break it down into bits and practice SLOWLY, then you can work your tempo up and put the hands to play together. 3. Get the hand posture correct - it is so important to have the right hand posture. Otherwise, you pose the risk of hurting your hand or wrist. A tip is to just let your hand fall naturally down and then to bring your hand up to the piano without changing the shape. Your fingers should ALWAYS be rounded (and never press down and look kinda banana-shaped) and as if there's something round sitting in the palm of your hand. (Also if you have a piece with finger markings on it, which are numbers on top of the notes, follow those! It's so important and they're there to make it easier to play. The right- hand goes: 1 - thumb, 2 - pointer finger, 3 - middle finger, 4 - ring finger, 5 - pinky finger, same goes for the left hand) Also, learning hard pieces right off the bat is not good for your hand, as it hasn't got that muscle memory of playing the piano. It hasn't gotten used to it, that's why your hands will hurt so much.) 4. Let your body move with your arms. If the piece tells your right or left arm to go up an octave or down an octave, move your body with your arm instead of just moving your arm (if they move out at the same time then that can't be helped) And don't keep your wrist stiff and just move your arm and hand, and make sure the hand never goes flat either. And always keep your back straight (but not like stiff straight) and feet flat on the ground. Always take breaks if any part of your arms or hands are feeling sore, it also helps refresh your brain and you can go back the next day and practice the piece again like he said. 5. It's good to learn classical pieces, do exercises, and scales and arpeggios, and understand basics of music theory, (key signatures, time signatures, etc.) at 8:35, he states the piece is in C major (only white keys played). But C major is not the only key with just white notes, there are things called relative majors and minors, if you can hear, the piece sounds kind of sad, that's already an indication it's in a minor key. The relative minor of C major (meaning they have the same key signature) is A minor. (An A natural minor scale ALSO only plays on the white keys). Also, notice how the piece starts on A with both hands? That's a good indication that the piece is in A minor, not C major. Also, learning about time signatures helps give you a feel for the timing of all the notes, etc. It's more difficult to learn pieces without them. And pop pieces are great, but generally just chords in the left hand and a repeating melody in the right hand. Which won't really help you improve that much. Classical pieces (or they don't have to be classical, you can find plenty of modern musical pieces) help you improve as there are always new complex melodies and things you can learn with your right and left hand that you wouldn't normally get in a pop piece. Yes, you can play a cool piece of music or a bunch and you can be proud of yourself, but playing only a few cool pieces doesn't give you experience. - Don't limit yourself! Try out new things, go crazy, there are beautiful compositions written by many many composers that you can play and have it sound just as good. This stigma around classical music being boring is so uncalled for because it's not always in the classical music era, there's baroque, romantic, impressionist, minimalist and so many more eras that have just as good music. These composers wrote amazing compositions that convey so much meaning and represent so many things. Give it a try sometime, I know my comment is probably annoying, but I hope it helps at least someone?? It's important to learn the piano properly. If you can't afford lessons, look some up on youtube, find a good person and learn the basics before going wild on practice and learning pieces that take you weeks to get right.

My piano teacher taught me something that I held on to for the 8 years I have been practicing “Slow practice makes for fast improvement” She couldn’t be more right. When it’s slow your brain can focus on playing correct notes, instead of keeping up to a tempo. Then, once you’re notes are spot on, then try to speed it up. I still practice like this to this day.

A little constructive criticism . This was a year ago so maybe it's not relevent . I got into piano late in life , but I had been a musician in my youth so I had a basic grasp of theory , circle of fifths , scales , chord progressions , Minor/Pentatonic/Blues scales . What it takes to remember how to play a long piece of music without an understanding of theory takes almost infinitely more brain space . It really doesn't take much time to learn the essential parts of music theory . Music theory is like the secret powerful kung-fu of music . When you balance technique (learning different pieces of increasing difficulty) with enough theory , you get to a point where you no longer need much input for great output . Songs are a bit like mathematical theory and mathematicians would say maths has no author . Songs are very similar . Sometimes songwriting feels like you're uncovering something more than you're creating something . Before long you'll find that progressing on the piano is more fun without sheet-music or software than with it . And you'll be able to figure out a song in less time that it takes to play the song . If you're going to spend , say >10.000 hours on the piano , make sure it's the right 10.000 hours! Because it'll make all the difference in the end . Sometimes the difference in progressing is as big as pushing as compared to being pulled . It's much nicer to be pulled along than to push along . I hope that makes sense .
@dwintster4 жыл бұрын
Makes allot of sense, thanks. I'm a designer/artist and learning perspective, anatomy, model making(came from industrial design so learned all about manufacturing.) color theory and composition makes it easier to create someting from my imagination. So I can appreciate the difference that taking time to learn theory will make in one's progression.

One thing of the things I say when people ask me why I like playing the piano, you find them randomly in public places. Old, worn, abused, but still waiting for someone to play them. Every so often someone stops by who knows how to play, and they play, and people walking by or around the piano quiet down and listen. Hey all. Played some piano for a while & got some extra tips: #-1 - Get creative. Playing with creativity is always better than just playing even if it doesn't sound the best. #0 - Get Correct Sheet Notes. IMSLP is your place to go, and for classical pieces go with Edition Peters. Can't overstress it. Lot of times editors release sheets with mistakes in notes or just editing mistakes that will make the practice more difficult. #1 - With new pieces - practice with one hand at a time at slow tempos. Once you get confident @ around 100 BPM, lower the metronome setting by half and try playing both hands. #2 - Practice the 3-1 and 4-1 switch. These finger switches are of HUGE importance and will improve the speed and the technique massively. #3 - If you have sheet notes - write down the fingering. #3a - Practical note: ALWAYS take special consideration for the position of the 4th finger. Some arpeggios are played more easily 1-2-4-5, some are 1-2-3-5; some scales play better 1-2-3-1-2-3-4-1 than 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-1, some go with 2-3-1-2-3-4-1-1 #4 - To play well you also need to train your ear. Listen to different people playing the piece - try to understand their interpretation. #4a - dynamics. How loud is the piece performed? Does the musician that you hear play according to your sheet notes? Do you have crescendos, decrescendos, morandos... do you understand everything that your sheet notes say? Dictionaries with musical notations are marvelous things. #4b - agogics. How does the tempo differ? Does it say so in the sheet or is it just a manner of this musician? Also - from which period is the piece, if it is a romantic/postromantic piece consider varying tempo [check what Rubato is] #4c - articulation. Staccatos, portatos, the pre-notes, short notes, trills & other thrills. Bare in mind that articulation is like spices in kitchen - you practice technique withour articulation, but you don't want to perform without articulation: it will sound bland. #4d - phrasing & stress pattern. Find the melody in the piece. It is your "theme sentence" of your main character. Then you will get an answer from a second character. Then you will get a story. It will be either cooperative (eg. illustrative to tell the story with different characters) or competitive (contrastive, like in the music of JS Bach). Listen how people give character to each person in the piece. #5 - Think Ahead. While playing piano you need to always know what comes next. Once you'll be able to play without hesitation - you are ready to go stage Tried to make it as concise as possible. Cheers folks & hf playing piano :) With all the love from Poland, Marcin "jambski" Dziembor

All these people who say they started learning piano and quit, I'm so frickin' jealous of you! My family was too poor to even purchase any kind of instrument. I wanted to learn violin and piano ever since I was seven but the lessons would've been pricey, along with constant parts and instrument replacements. I saw my mom working 12+ hours a day and didn't even fix my mouth to ask for something so costly. It felt like it would've been heartless. And though I moved around a lot growing up, not a single school I attended had anything other than band...loud instruments I had no desire to play except for maybe flute. I've decided now as an adult that I'd like to get a simple keyboard to begin (but I want it to have 88 keys, just to keep it close to a piano). Not trying to go pro as that ain't in the cards for me, but I'd like to make music at some point instead of only listening to what others have made.

So my mom had something similar happen. Was exposed to piano at 4. Was good. Her mother couldn't afford the piano. She never got me one either. Tried to force me to play tbe Clarinet at 9 but I wasn't mature enough to practice on my own and she was a single mom. She gets my oldest daughter lessons. I buy them a $25 dollar keyboard for a year to make sure my older daughter will really do it. She progresses because you don't really need weighted or 88 keys right away. After a year I do the right thing and get her a real 88 key weighted keyboard. Her 4 year old sister starts playing and is even better than her at the same age. Nice to see them get the opportunity By the way, if you go on Facebook marketplace most popular thing is a weighted keyboard or upright piano that someone is trying to get rid of on the cheap.

After playing for over 10 years now I'm able to listen to a song and depending on the amount of notes/tempo learn to play it by listening to it within a couple of hours. Everyone is different, some people can do it one way, other people can do it another, brains are incredible things there is no set way to be the best or be good at one thing, there are many ways to success, do what you feel comfortable with if it doesn't work try something else, most importantly never give up.

A lot of people want to play "for the fun of it" if you get what I mean, to just jump in and play what ever songs you like. But for those that want to get as good as possible in as small of a timeframe as possible: Fundamentals are everything. (Note, your arm or wrist or shoulder should not hurt. If it does, take a break, shake out your hands and come back to it later. Play with your fingers, not with your arm. Your fingers are the lead). This below is not something you should ONLY do. Remember to also do fun things with the piano, unless this is fun for you. Practise your scales. learn to play the C scale first, (up and down) and get it as smooth as you can. Then move on to C# and so forth. Once you can play all of them decently, play them after each other without stopping. Then start from C and go downwards this time (C, B, A# and so on). Once you can do this, play two scales up instead of just one, up and down. Repeat above steps. Left hand time! Repeat. Once you got both hands down, play them at the same time (C scale with both hands, C# and so forth, then down) and repeat the above. Next is arpeggios. Practise a few hours a day if you have the time, and even more as long as you don't hurt yourself. Begin your journey with good fundamentals. Not only will learning songs be easier, but you'll prevent damage in the long run from straining. All of the above should be muscle memory and relaxed. Piano is an investment of time, but should also be fun. Find what's right for you. You can find loads of tips online. If you feel like you're straining but can't help it, search it up. If you just cant get that run to sound smooth, search it up. You will also only go so far without a teacher. Highly recommended right from the get go. Good luck!

"Play with your fingers, not with your arm." This is okay for beginners. Eventually you need to use your entire body to bring out the shaping you need in more advanced pieces. Your fingers alone won't cut it, and you will hurt yourself if you try. "Practise your scales. learn to play the C scale first, (up and down) and get it as smooth as you can. Then move on to C# and so forth." I would do the major scales in C G/F D/Bb A/Eb E/Ab B/Db order. This gives you progression in the 1 sharp/1 flat in the key signature so you don't go from C major with no sharps or flats to C# major with 7 sharps. I would also suggest doing harmonic and melodic minor scales before you attempt the weird ones like F# major, C# major, Gb major, and Cb major.

Gaming is harder than playing an instrument. The instrument doesn't shoot back. In online gaming you're not good unless you're better than everyone else. For one person to be good, one person has to suck. In music, everyone can be good. In gaming, that's not possible, because ability is based on a comparison with opponents. There are no opponents in music. In gaming, other people getting better, makes you worse. In music, you're only in competition with how good you were yesterday. But in reality everything is as hard as you make it. If you want to be the best ever at something, it doesn't matter what that thing is, the difficulty is the same: It requires everything from you, and you'll still probably fail.

@@josephherrera7956 I feel a little bad for SoloQ-ing to global in 3 months from never having played the game. But it's not really about aim or reflexes. It's about getting the other 4 random douches to be nice to each other and not rage, flame, tilt or just go AFK and spin in spawn to avoid a cooldown. Time spent learning clever smokes and flashes that help the team, is worth more than time spent in aim maps. Everyone can aim. It's a hitscan game, so it's not even aiming, really. Just pick a map that not many people know, and learn everything about it, and only play that map. And never give up when you're being thrashed by smurfs or cheaters. Every round you deny them, helps. @b_a_fps15695 жыл бұрын
@@MP-cv6if You can buy a 61 key keyboard for 150 euros. These are most likely fitted with semi-weighted keys. With most of the keyboards you can transpose, so you can play an octave below or an octave above. This allows you to play pieces written on an 88 key piano. An 88 key keyboard is pretty pricy, but if you know for a fact that this is something you want to pursuit, I'd recommend an 88 key with fully weighted keys. With the 44 key keyboard, you can notice if you need more space and perhaps full sized keys. It can make a difference in your playing.

@@b_a_fps1569 Than You for information! I have just started playing with both hands (I can play only the beginners version, and that takes time to learn) If I learn ten songs with both hands before September starts, I will request my parents to get me a bigger one, which has at least five octaves. Even Death Note's theme( the one I am learning at present, and it it the second song with left) needs four octaves and it's irritating to leave a few notes the left because I don't have them in my keyboard. My present one has got big keys( I haven't yet seen a real piano so I don't know if they are as big, but judging by the proportions, the keys are just as big as the ones in the keyboard in this video)and that's a relief because I have seen casios with real tiny keys. I don't want to make my parents spend so much because I am still in 9th, and hobbies keep on coming and going for most people in their teens( actually brightening and fading). Like I was mad for art when I was in 5th or 6th standard. Drawing and painting and coloring was what filled my days. In seventh, the madness was reduced to a hobby while a even higher madness for literature flourised, and in 8th, hours of art we're almost completely turned into hours of reading small text on literally any mobile phone I got hands on. It wasn't like I began to lose interest on art, it was just that books and my own writings were hardly leaving any time for art. But still when I sat down to paint, I took full four-fve hours of solitude and creativity. And now I have started piano. So I need to make sure that I'm serious about this before exchanging a ton of money for a quality piano( and that's the reason I never bought cannavas and a proper paint and brush set, or Harry Potter and Famous Five books in print)

Hi mate :D I`ve started 1 year and 1 month ago and got to Moonlight sonata which is the last song from Grey`s video in around 9 months ,almost 10 with the first 8 of self learning. I had a keyboard twice before and both times I`ve quit after 1 year as I thought it`s too hard but it was just because I did not followed a method , no practice plan, just trying to play songs that I would have love to play but of course I had no chance :)) Most of the people that make videos like this don`t lie, I know it seems hard to believe and I also had big doubts about this kind of videos but you can really do impressive things after 6 or 9 months to be fair and absolutely impress anyone who doesn`t play piano or understand music with the easiest things on piano (like 4 chords and random notes in C major or any scale ) :)) Don`t get me wrong ... what you don`t see from these videos is the amount of discipline, frustration, sometimes pain from your fingers and hands, loss of motivation and confidence when things don`t go well and so on :( Playing an instrument is not relaxing at all as people say " oh, that`s a nice and relaxing hobby" ... nope :)) 80% of the time spent on piano you`ll just do exercices that are repetitive, some are not melodic at all, technique , sight reading , theory , repeating the same part of a song 50000 times and so on :)) So in the first year you`ll only get excited when you finally finish a song and it sounds really nice. After the first year you`ll start to have much more fun as you`ll be able to sight read some easier pieces and that`s an incredible nice feeling and also you`ll be able to improvise so the piano will become relaxing, fun to play and you`ll want to spend more time at it :D

Why is it that every time I see a famous pianist they do not play the piece "properly" as you say? Maybe it is just anecdotal but it seems that the odds are that the more famous the pianist, the more they will dynamically change the speed of the song to the point where it stops making sense as a composition. Often these were meant to be dance songs and yet the pianist will be playing all different speeds from moment to moment, clearly destroying the intention of the original piece. When you talk of dynamics it makes me picture one of these disastrous overly-expressing-feeling-with-dynamics-in-volume-and-speed performances.

My parents gave me a $120 dollar 62 keys keyboard last December. It's probably cheap for most people but it's already pricy for me. Seeing this video just makes me happy for this guy and myself. It is now 6 months from when I started learning to play the keyboard by myself. Like the guy in this video, I don't know how to read sheet music. I learned everything by watching KZbin videos and practicing everyday. This ongoing crisis (you know what I'm talking about) gave me an opportunity to practice everyday. I'm proud to say that I can play like this person. To anyone who's reading this, I hope you too will learn piano. Be it by yourself or being taught by a teacher. Good luck!

I also started playing the piano again after watching Patrik Pietschmann's Arrangement of Interstellar. Since then I learned several other musical pieces of films and video games, rly inspiring tho! Very impressive progress in one year. A tip is to play with your wrist and not your fingers. It may sound somewhat counter-intuitive but that is the reason why your fingers were hurting - because of the tension in them. If you relax and let your fingers drop onto the keys, the notes come out smoother and playing becomes less tiring. It also makes much faster passages manageable like really fast octaves and much faster scales. Your hand should be almost limp at the keys. Additionally, I personally find the best way to remove tension from your fingers is to play fast arpeggios. The trick is to roll your wrist to reach the next octave. Good luck with your future pianoing adventures!

i started to learn playing when i was around 7 years old. my parents wanted me to play so i was forced to do so. ive always been a rebellious little piece of shit and even tho it was going really good i was doing it lazily or hiding around the house every time my teacher came. with time they stopped forcing me to play. i was relieved but the piano was just standing there and i wasnt playing it at all. after few years when i was around 14 i felt like i wanna play again, but damm it was hard. i learned how to play river flows in you, welcome to the death parade and some other which i dont remember. i was practicing a lot but yet again i got lazy and unmotivated felt like i wont do any more progress. and now im 20 piano is still there standing and i feel really bad when i look at this. every time i look at it i just feel bad. i feel like i wasted my talent. with age i realised i couldve been doing something i love since music became my passion. thanks to this video i gained some confidence and motivation and im so thankful to you for sharing it. from tomorrow ill be practicing again and wont give up. you gave me the reason to learn once again and made me see that theres still a chance in succeeding in it.

Great job! Really love the progression. One tip for the soreness you mention in your comments, especially in your left hand. Try to keep your hands arched like there's a bubble in your palms and make sure the height of your bench allows your arms to be just slight above the height of the keyboard. Your wrists are low/flat which makes it harder to 'bounce' your left hand. There's also a collection of exercises called Hanon which is good for building dexterity and speed. Good luck!

Sheet music is good for certain things, can hinder other. I also would recommend learning sheet music, but be aware that it can also prevent/discourage a lot of creativity and personal flare. A lot of people think "Someone wrote it like this, so it must be performed like this" when in fact the sheet music ITSELF is an interpretation of the music. Music, at it's core, is a set of sounds that are pleasing to an individual. I'd say learning to read sheet music is a good idea, but not at all pivotal to great performance and creativity, as Grey has shown. :)

Dude that's awesome. Really reminds me of my last year. In grade 7 I was told I was too old to learn how to play an instrument. I'm 43 now a year ago my grandma moved in with her Piano. The only thing I know about music is the video game rock band and I was told playing the drums in real life was similar so I played like crazy and got to medium on most songs in the video game but it took a couple hundred hours and about a year. I was told the falling notes was nothing like playing a real instrument and when my drum set got broken one day when I was having a wrestling match that got out hand with my girlfriend I never really thought it was even possible. One day I saw the piano tutorials that looked the same as the video game with the falling notes and it got me thinking. I liked that style because you wouldn't have to learn to read music when you start and there was no way I could multi-task like that. I saw VK playing Riders on the Storm and it woke up somehting inside me. Even though everybody else around me said it was impossible, my fingers were too uncoordinated and had bad arthritis, my left hand was reallly weak and useless, it was beyond frustrating but i couldn't stop. I quit watchng TV, I thought I sounded ok but anybody who was around would become very depressed and even suicidal. Sadly everyone told me again I was too old and I had zero musical ability and some people have it some don't. Also was told that it would take years and dozens of lessons and I would also have to learn theory learn to read music. I didn't even know what the C note was. Things have changed a bit since grade 7 and I have some sort of issue when someone says it can't be done. So I bought a synthesizer and some headphones. In hindsight I should have done that from the beginning, my Grandma has dementia and can't remember my name somedays, even on her worse day when I start playing the piano she gets this glazed look in her eyes and I think it's PTSD. It's the exact same look you see when a vietnam hears a chopper and has a flashback. My poor grandma now looks like she is back in the jungles of vietnam for a second or two whenevery she hears a piano or even sees me near it but she the horror turns to surprise and she admits I can play a little bit now but need lessons. As she was a very good player, and very critical on how people play this was a huge milestone for me. And just puts in perspective how bad I was when i started. That was just over a year ago. I decided I was going to see if it was possible to learn only off the youtube, no private lessons, and I also decided to see if I could do it without learning how to read sheet music. That way people who are told that they can't do it like me, would have no obstacles to starting. I am not very co-ordinated either. I had the exact same progress as you in a year except I had to put in about 4 times as much time. Even after 6 months and close to 400 hours, same timeI started using my left hand, people said they could detect zero progress and that I had no rhythm, no sense of timing, no talent, I was tone deaf, and most could barely tell I was playing a song. All I heard was: people were startng to hear music in my playing, so I was stoked that I was making progress. It was after about a year and close to 1000 hours it all started coming together. I am now about the same level as you now and playing on a piano and I must be around 1200 hours and 15 months. I haven't gotten bored because I downloaded thousands of song off the net. One thing for sure I got good stamina now. I can play for hours and play about and not get tired.LOL. If I were to give any advice, in the beginning you have to get a something where you can hook a headset up to it because if you try and learn while other people are listening they will end up getting traumatized even my own ears would ring after, ROFL. Dude, you did a really great video. I'm stoked you figured out how to learn how to play and even got a video done. I think this the falling note method is great for the newer generation who have ADD like me. One question have you learned how to read music yet? If so at what point? Also I never learned the peddle with the keyboard, I use the practice peddle on piano as it sounds a litte more bright with some music on some of the notes (old bell piano). I don't like the right peddle though, I find it makes any treble notes too muddy while sustaining the bass chords, I do use the middle peddle that sustains bass only , which most people don't use, i have gotten good at moving hands quickly and sustaining by holding down a little longer and have even got better at holding one or two keys, and playing other 3 fingers like in 'came here to forget" so I rarely use it. The piano I am using is super loud and has a little bit of echo anyways, without holding the sustain peddle down. Everything I have read suggests that the sustain peddle is the piano players best friend and what give music it's personality. My grandma can testify my playing already has lots of personality. LOL. Are there certian piano's that don't require as much peddle? Are there people who don't use as much peddle and still sound good? Thanks Again. I recognize all the songs you were playing Summertime Sadness is a great one for learning I wish I woud have found that one six months ago. Yeah I should mention easy doesn't mean easy just like in the video game rockband. Easy just means easy version of the song. Beginner songs and easy version of them is what they should be classified as. A lot of the beatles songs are way harder then they look and are really frustrating. For me hardest part is using both hands.Took 8 months. For some reason as soon as I did something that needed any kind of concentration with my right, my left hand went offline. LOL Then when i gave my attention to my left hand and powered it back up it had no idea where it was for a second and flail about trying to feel where on the keyboard it was. Similar to Jason Bourne except execution ended up Mr. Bean. It sounds funny but yeah I felt like Mr Bean most of the time. It's very humbling and you think there's something wrong with yourself when you can't move some of your fingers independently at first. Trilliing with pinky and ring finger playing For Elise (yes I know it was improper hand position) or Let Her Go almost drove me to madness. My goal now is to be able to play the 2 steps from hell songs in the next year. Victory and Empire of Angels are two of the coolest songs I have every heard. Anyways It seems like a lot of time to invest but I just stopped watching TV and my mind is working way better, memory has improved. It can be done. Great video bro! Thans again. I am glad it worked out for you and will be looking forward to your next video. Kudos on the video, it was honest, and you could see that which is rare and you confirmed for me a lot of the things I had been questioning.
