Hey there, friends! Today’s video is super special - I’m inviting you into the heart of Little Mountain Ranch to show you what a year's worth of food looks like for us. From our pantry shelves to the root cellar and from our grow room to the freeze-dryer space, you’ll get to see it all!
We'll share our canning and store-bought pantries, and you’ll peek into our root cellar, where the cool earth keeps our produce fresh for months. The root cellar was what sold me on this property eight years ago. I’ll take you through the grow room where our plants start their journey - it’s like springtime in there no matter the season outside. We'll also be sharing the newest addition since last year's tour, which has really upped our preservation game and that's our freeze dryer room.
Don't forget to hit subscribe and that little bell so you won’t miss out on our future adventures and some cool courses I’ve got in the works about all things growing, preserving and pantry cooking.
Grab your favourite mug of something warm, settle in, and I hope you enjoy coming along with us!
Thanks for watching!

Unfortunately not every Cat is actually a 'Mouser'. For that you need to 'deliberately' SHOP for one just like you shop for 'Livestock' animals: Dogs, Geese & Donkeys.

Hi, I just discovered you today. Reminds me of my great grandma Hulda, 1/2 of her basement was a giant pantry, she was always making something. Others made fun of her saying we could live for 3 yrs on her pantry food. She would remind them that during the depression yrs she always had food because she always prepared for a rainy day & she never stopped doing it. She lived to be 95. We were so lucky to grow up eating food without chemicals & additives. So much more healthier. I try to do the same thing in each season but on a much smaller scale in my 1/4 acre backyard. My house in Tx was built in 1986. We don't have a basement so I use my linen closet & front hall closet as pantries. My husband & grown sons tell people that I'm like a squirrel storing food, but when covid hit. & stores ran out of food, we had plenty. Thankyou great grandma Hulda for teaching me well. So happy to see young people like yourselves trying to live healthy. It's a lot of hard work but it keeps you out of trouble & saves a lot of money. God Bless you both

After following the year through your content, what I can only imagine to be the thousands of hours, spent by you and your family producing that bounty, and the emotional roller coaster that gardening and family life always is. Words are lacking in their ability to describe what an accomplishment those pantries are. Your “Pantry Tour” video was just the perfect counterpoint.

If I had that pantry, I would have a nice comfy chair, a glass of wine and some soothing music playing. I would just sit back and enjoy the view and reflect on the past summer, and dream about the delicious meals coming soon. ❤

We do 1200+ jars per year, plus 1000 bags of freeze dried food (we also have freeze dried pet food for 2000 meals each for 4 dogs) that we did with our freeze drier. We also have food grade 5 gallon buckets filled with grains, rice, raw honey, sugar, oats, flour, pasta, barley. We also have sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, pumpkins, butternut squash, acorn squash and blue Hubbard squash. We have increased the garden size for next grow season, which will increase our quart jars and our freeze dried mylar bags.

Seeing the Apple Butter reminds me of a traditional Appalachian cake-Apple Stack Cake. It’s very thin layers of cake with rehydrated apple with cinnamon between the layers and finished by covering the entire cake with a creamy apple butter. Let sit for 24 hours in the fridge to moisten and mingle the flavors. A beautiful and tasty cake from the mountains.

It's very wise to have multiple varieties of food stored, like you have. If the canned food fails, you have your dehydrated, if the dehide fails you have store bought, if store bought fails and so forth. Good planning.

I did 25 jars of zucchini pineapple sh sh don't tell anyone they don't know. You must have 100 percent pineapple juice clean zucchini peel and no soft just the stuff veggie cut into chunk size follow recipe always use juice don't dump put plenty zucchini in when cooking you can fill the jars. Making stir fry is a must over rice and stuffing flour shells . Our store finely had Acorn squash for 2/1.00 we stock up soup, cookies, fruit bread, as is with brown sugar and steak and best pie. The deer found our garden and I couldn't believe it. So we have to make better changes for our home close to town by our children and then our Ranch that's so much work keeping up so going to sale off. Being it's four hours away and two hours from shopping. just not young to keep up. This beautiful lady worked hard on all this canning. I've been shopping at the bulk Mormon church store. Bought big powder milk for $3.98 canned oats gallon can's four in a box $10.99 it pays to shop around.

NICE JOB WELL DONE!... WE ADD VINGAR TO SALMON.... Since fish contain sufficient moisture levels that will be extracted during the canning process, no additional water is required. Simply add five ml (one tsp) of non-iodized salt in each 500 ml (one pint) jar, along with 10 ml of vinegar and/or lemon juice. If desired, you can add your own favourite fish seasonings.

The amount of work you put into making all the food and then making this video is astounding. Well done, well done. 🌻 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31:28-31

Thanks Dan and Chelsea I really enjoyed that ìt just shows how much you're family work so hard. I keep saying family because you said you all get stuck in but you would rather not let your children be on the camera which I can appreciate up to them if they decide that is their choice. What a brilliant job Dan done of the pantry I knew it would be good but it was better than even I expected as I've said you two make such a great couple. I dread to think how much that took you all plus giving the kitchen a smarter look. I can just imagine the family will be looking forward to a break in the holidays? We don't celebrate thanksgiving but I hope you make the most of yours tell Dan to have a break I'm really excited to seeing the bunkie house ɓut I would rather see a Dan rested and you so please enjoy yourselves and have a good holiday you all deserve it? Absolutely beautiful. Well done from your husband building the places to keep your food to you for having the knowledge to preserve all of it. That a lot of work and time in the kitchen. For your mice 🐭 problem. Cats are the best but also a five gallon bucket 🪣 just set in the corner will work well. No water or anything in it. You could put some kernels of corn in the bottom. They get in but can’t get out. I do that in my cabin and my hunting blind I also have a coffee can w a hole cut in the lid with flour mixed with boric acid powder. That is nontoxic to human and pets but kill mice. ❤

I just found your channel. It’s late so haven’t got to see your playlist yet. But man I hope you have recipe’s for these canned foods and videos. Wish I could shop your canned goods 🤣. It all sounds so yummy. Only 3 of us but because of health issues I have to start canning and freeze drying things because the processed store stuff is causing my health issues. Doctor said stop shopping at the stores and shop farmers market or order from organic fresh and canned goods or grow myself. So now trying to change the way I have done things my whole life. I told him that is easier said than done. He said do it or buy a cemetery plot. He is a little blunt and forward but I actually like that he doesn’t mind telling you how it is.

I make green tomato mincemeat, I used cranny smith apples to make apple pie . Wonderful pie for Christmas. One pint, pour over your apples , but don't use a soft apple granny smith is the best.. Wonderful pie.....I used to be a stay at homer, took care of all the gardens and canning, To me it was a wonderful way to live,.. Nice to see young women or men, someone is at home caring for there children... My son told me once how lucky he wasn't a latch key kid.. This video brings back memories. How wonderful, young people are still doing this..
