First long course race in a whole year, and it feels so good! Also learned a lot, all the info is in the vlog!
Full analysis of my 100 Breastroke from the San Antonio Pro Series 2021.
Huge shoutout to @maskproductions22 for the extra footage.

On 2nd 50, finals. 19 strokes both years. Last year 31.66, tempo 1.43. This year 32.09, tempo 1.41. You hypothesized that your efficiency dropped. However, the same 19 strokes finished the same distance, which means your are more efficient than last year with swimming time improved from 1.43*19 (27.17) to 1.41*19 (26.79). The extra time had to be before stroking; somewhere during the turn and the pull out.

I would eat Chipotle Mexican Grill if Michael Andrew told me to. I'm not a big fan of Chipotle Mexican Grill by the way. Thanks for sharing you knowledge and expertise Michael. I'm so impressed with your subject vocabulary. Try to remember your thought process during the race, that could be all the issue is. Your just thinking to much maybe :)Godspeed.

Hi, michael I repeat I am not a professional swimmer o something similar, but I recommend you something without taking into account the power, underwater, etc. You are taking to long in the cicle of stroke and the kick for a type of race that is pretty fast, according to what I know you should use that type of style in a 200m breaststroke, for example look peaty his strokes are very fast. I repeat according to what I know

Michael, Todd here from New Zealand. Ex competitive swimmer growing old but awesome arm chair critic. Firstly , you have beautiful technique across all strokes, and with such a strong Breaststroke I wonder why you don't 200 IM more . You remind me of the best 200 / 400 IM from Canada, Alex Baumann. Best of luck for Olympic Trials. By the way the best fly kick training we ever did was kick, kick and the third was real power down kick for the stroke then back to 2 hard kicks and the 3rd , the real power kick for the stroke , 2nd 50 was all kick under water.

Great racing Michael! One technical aspect that stood out to me; elbows MIGHT be coming slightly too far back at the top of the stroke; in other words keep the arms in front of your body more and attack that line out in front. Also I’m 1.07 from the wave 1 trials cut for 100 breast, praying I can be there in Omaha. Keep at it, and I hope you win a medal in Tokyo! 🇯🇵 God bless

I think your feet are going out a bit wide on some strokes creating more drag and your tempo seems bit slow, narrowing the feet might help with a faster tempo too. At least visually watching Peaty, he's got a faster tempo, tho I don't have access to stats. Can't wait for the Olympics, hoping to see you in a lot of event there, best of luck!

If you're slowing down and it's not due to the tempo or stroke cycle, then it's logically due to fatigue. Fatigue is the problem and the symptoms could be everything you mentioned: head position, less power, legs giving out somewhat, breakout stroke, etc. Once fatigue sets in, everything could "blow." lol This is my best guess and I'm sure it has something to do w/not racing for a while, but also, endurance must be incorporated a little more. Little time b/f trials, so hopefully a little of it will go a long way. Love your vlogs and wish you blessings and luck!

Dude please keep doing these kinds of videos!! Race and stroke analysis is one of my favorite parts of the sport since it gives you immediate ways of knowing how to get better, and you posting this side of it is a lot more interesting to me at least than just race footage that we could’ve found somewhere else.
