REALLY enjoyed watching your hook up of the water tank, because I am almost at that stage for my own little shed to tiny home conversion. So thanks for the information and the visual on that! Amazed at all you two do and have accomplished in such a short time. Unfortunately, I work 3 days a week and there is only one of me, so I doubt I will move at the pace you are. I am excited for you!

New-ish subscriber here… I’ve been binge watching your videos. You ladies inspire me! How did you learn to build things and to use power tools? Please share some tips! I’m tired of having to hire someone who charges an arm and a leg for subpar work, or waiting for my husband to get home to help me with projects on our fixer upper house. I want to be like you 😊

That's really wonderful; eating your own, home grown watermelon. A yellow one,cat that. Hooray for hooking up the water.

Keep your apple swirl peels. At scout camp, we would fry them up in butter and add brown sugar & maple syrup. The scouts loved them

I have only recently found your channel and i absolutely love every video i have seen which is every one in the past year. I love y’all’s take on life and the genuine chemistry between you both and how you go about your land in each video. I’m disabled so ill never get to live alone or have the homestead of my dreams, but I’ll definitely live the homestead life vicariously through y’all’s videos and content. I wish you both and your land and pups all the wonderful positivity you can ever need in your journey

It looks like y'all have a good variety of trees for tapping to make syrup. I love the way that part of Tennessee looks during the fall. I'm closer to Nashville and right now it's just kind of meh. I'm really enjoying watching y'all. 🙂

The fun part is winterizing the water system. did a direct bury 1200 gal at the homestead with a shallow well jet pump and pressure tank. Took a few years of refinement

Thanks for sharing. I sure enjoyed this video. It brings me memories of vacation trips to Georgia, SC. NC. and Tenn. in the fall of the year. The changing of leaves were always beautiful. Life has changed for me and I am unable to enjoy as I once did. You two have really come a long way. I look forward to seeing your upcoming videos. Thanks!

Your videos are awesome :) just a heads up on saving the watermelon seeds - they will cross pollinate with other watermelons. So if you grew a few different varieties the seeds you get could actually be a mix between those varieties. It’s usually fun trying them out but they normally don’t taste as good ;)

This was a very interesting video. How are you going to keep the water from freezing in the winter? With heat tapes. You really are making this a very nice home. It’s easier because you work together. I admire the work your doing.

Good question! We've got some tricks up our sleeves that will show eventually in an upcoming video for how we'll keep the water from freezing. Thank you for your kind words and for watching :)

@@HEYWANDERER that’s good! I remember we had frozen pipes in barn. We carried buckets of water to water 30 head of cattle. It was minus 50 with wind chill. It was a horrible winter!

I’ll be very interested to see your video about how you plan to keep your water from freezing. I am living in a newly completed tiny house (from shed) also and starting to panic about the upcoming cold weather. Haven’t quite figured out my own strategy yet so hoping you’ll have some good ideas to share.

How high up from the ground is your house so you could get under it to run the plumbing?
@tylerseverson8539 ай бұрын
You guys really need to experiment with dehydrating. It would be a great addition to your preservation options. And you can dehydrate without electricity! Apples, tomatoes, peppers, all of that would work great dehydrated and take up a lot less space as well.
@HEYWANDERER9 ай бұрын
We have a dehydrator and we do dehydrate. It’s probably my least favorite preservation method.

So where does your water come from? A well? Why not just hook up direct to the house? Did I miss some info?
@HEYWANDERER2 жыл бұрын
We have a video called "How We Get Water, Electricity, and Shower Off Grid" from 9 months ago that address all of that. It's a little outdated and we have some better systems than that but it'll give you an idea.

I am a little concerned about your new unprotected water pipes. They could easily freeze and break. This includes the water in the tank. Be careful.

Well Don, worry not my friend. We aren’t done yet. And Pex piping can’t break when it freezes. But we have several more measure to take. This is only step 1
