Some of those mountains are actually 14,000ft. Leadville sits amongst the mighty Sawatch range which has 15 peaks above 14,000 ft. The highest 3 mountains in Colorado.... Elbert, Massive and Harvard are in this mountain range. Really enjoy your videos.

Nice added information! We camped close to Elbert and Massive if I remember correctly.I didn't know there was 15 peaks over 14k in that one range! Leadville is awesome. I love the lush green valleys between the mountains. I bet all those Aspen's are turning gold right now. 👱‍♂️👩🐕🎾

1. Fly agaric - no no 2. Hawks wing - yum if you find the right ones, otherwise bitter and maybe tummy troubles 3. Coral - sometimes hard to clean but the absolute best for mushroom soup 4. King bolete. STEAK! Super yum!!! 5. Could be a young King bolete - need to see more of the the bottom. 6. No idea, so a "leaverite" (leave 'er right there!) How'd I do? I always keep Boost on hand for flatlanders (and me sometimes!) I also keep a small oximeter on hand to measure oxygen concentration and then use the boost for recovery to a good level. Love Leadville area but a bit crowded for my preference.

This has been an absolutely stellar mushroom year. Perfect combination of rain and warm weather. You hit the season just about at the perfect time. Number 4 is a Bolete, also known as a Porcinni, the underside looks like a sponge on the Bolete edible, if it's got gills like a Portabella it's not the edible variety. The older ones like the one you show may have pinholes and scars on top which are where the flies have layed their eggs and you probably could find maggots inside. The ones that are just breaking up out of the duff are your best bet. Clean the sponge off the underside, slice and saute. Yum!

Love your content, couple of questions: 1. If you could do it over without taking expense into account, are you glad you went with a van or do you wish you had gone for something bigger? We are about to go full time and are on the fence between keeping our van that we have only taken on weekends (about the size of yours), versus getting a small RV (25 feet long). 2. Do you all have any kind of cell or signal booster? My husband and I will be working 9-5 hours remotely and internet will be key. So if you had just a slight connection, maybe with our booster we could have a decent connection at a spot like that?

We went mushroom hunting with an experienced guide years ago and brought back grocery bags full of edible ones. The caution we heard over and over again was, "once you've eaten a poisonous mushroom, and start to feel sick, it is too late to do anything about it". #1 was definitely not an edible mushroom.

Very smart to take no chances with mushrooms! That first one is a Fly Agaric and you are correct! Not to mess with that one. It's funny how this is the mushroom found in the cartoons.

Nice camp spot. I don’t think the can air will do much. Maybe if it’s 100% medical oxygen it may help recovery. Maybe. Great video 👍🏼

I feel like the oxygen is more of a gag gift 😂😂😂. I once worked for a company that delivered oxygen and I will say it completely takes my headaches away! We had to bleed off the tank every morning. It was better than a cup of coffee. 😎

Hi, Did you say this is the highest elevated city in the US and second highest in CO? Were you trying to say the other way around?

It does sound odd that way but there is a higher “town “in Colorado. A City being classified as having elected officials. It's funny because I asked Carrie the same question. 😂

Pretty sure #1 is Amanita Muscaria, the magic mushroom. Reportedly, what allowed Santa and the reindeer to fly.

I’m not an expert, but I do believe #1 is a very poisonous amanita, and #4 is a boleta (pores on the bottom instead of gills). If it’s a boletus edulis, they are supposed to be very tasty. Of course, #5 might be the edulis.
@oneadVANtureatatime

We agree! Number one is a Fly agaric also called an amanita. We think number 4 is a king bolete and number 5 we think is an Orange Birch Bolete. This is fun stuff! Thank you for naming them! 😀😀😀

Thelma , I bought a five day non- resident license today (Aug. 21) for 33 dollars after registering in Colorado State Park. It made it pretty reasonable. I hope this helps. 25 percent off for being in their web data base. Hope this helps someone.

I love Leadville and I love that trail. 1. Amanita muscaria-poisonous. 2. Hawks wing- edible. 3. Ramaria largentii- not edible. 4. Leccinum fibrillosum, a Bolete, but not a King Bolete, edible. 5. King bolete- edible. 6. Leccinum insigne, Aspen orang cap, type of Bolete- can cause gastric problems 7. ? Warning, I’m no expert!
