Actually she is a grappler and her striking was working cuz she can take down her oppoenets. There is a thing in MMA that, If you are good at grappling, you can strike better because your oppoent has no choice but to pay attention to take down defense. like simple duckig movement confuse them with take down and you can throw big right hand. But when her take down didn't work, Hirata's game was done.

Hirata gets yellow for stalling, meanwhile Ham gets to hit the back of the head with at least 11 fists and 3 elbows, but not a word on that. Also how fair is it to put pressure on the grappler to get into the striking? Like grappling is being held of, it's on the grappler, then if striking is held of shouldn't warnings go to the striker? This way they allow Ham to pick her of while standing, rather than forcing her to commit, so that she has to put herself at risk of getting taken down. Not that Roy Dean surprises entirely with this take, he's always harder on grapplers if anything the surprise is that he doesn't force them to stand up, I guess letting the strikes to the back of the head may have something to do with that. No wonder Hirata got frustrated...
