Once a match has finished, the referee should do a better job of keeping them apart. He shouldn't have allowed the other guy to stay close. He doesn't need to check on the ankle - that is the ref's job.

This kind of meeting has not meanning, no valor of proof, no nothing. Why? Because it all depends on the rules. Which rules will be applied? Obviously sambo and bjj don't have the same rules, so it cannot be a something vs an other different something without establishing a common ground rules for them to fight against each other.

This is a grappling/submission competition, so favors bjj. Sambo and judo favor throws, BECAUSE THEY R FOR REAL WORLD, LIFE OR DEATH COMBAT SURVIVAL. In a REAL street situation - getting JUMPED by thugs, NOT a bar ego battle and NOT a sports competion - you rely on a system that's main strategy is going to the ground, u ain't making it home. JUMPED in the street 3 times, not ONCE was it ONE, LONE attacker.

Sambo is for the battlefield so throws are emphasized and spending alot of time in newaza would be suicidal on a battlefield so isn't emphasized in Sambo. Jiujitsu is heavily newaza focused because it's a mutual, one vs one, unarmed, dueling sport.
