1st video in a new series where I answer viewer's technical questions I've received during the week. In this video we tackle:
Xmen whose coin input is always on
Horiz/Vert pots used on DK and DK JR
Horizontal and Vertical counters
Super Punch that won't coin up
Overview of my test bench setup
Brief Pole Position Clone update

Love the videos and thanks for the help. Just what I was looking for. Keep up the good work you are awesome. I never ordered from mouser because it was hard to understand how to order from them. You explained in plain English and was very easy to understand. Thanks again!

I love it! This is such a great format! Thanks for going in this direction, Adam! I have a question about a couple of games with playfield (background) corruption (vertical lines, etc), so that future video you mentioned about how arcade video works would be fantastic. It would be great to cover multiplexers, color and graphic roms, screen ram, how its shared with the CPU, etc etc.. Now I am psyched up! Keep up the great content! God Bless!

Awesome! First question you answered was what I wanted to ask. I have a Defender that keeps moving the ship down even when the control panel is disconnected. I pined the problem to the tiny IO board. It has the Resistors and Caps just like you talked about. You said I can use a voltmeter to test it. 9:30 So 0 is a good reading, what is a bad reading on the voltmeter? Anything above zero I guess?

+HappyAtom No 0 means the signal is being grounded all the time. That should only happen when you are moving the joystick. If you aren't then you should expect to see something close to 5v

A couple of months ago the "left blow" button on my Super Punch-Out stopped working. After confirming there was nothing wrong with the microswitch and wiring, I looked at those same schematics you showed in your video, saw the 74LS240 at 1R, replaced it, and that fixed the problem. Here are the test results I got on the bad 74LS240 that I replaced: Logic Unit 1 Test Normal Logic Unit 2 Test Normal Logic Unit 3 Test Error Logic Unit 4 Test Normal Logic Unit 5 Test Normal Logic Unit 6 Test Normal Logic Unit 7 Test Normal Logic Unit 8 Test Error

Yes More, learning so much from your channel. Question: Do you have any recommendation to convert a vector monitor to LCD? I have a working 1983 Star Wars. With vector getting rare, would like to convert it...I know blasphemy.

Hey Adam... not to doubt your advice, but when I went looking around fro info on that Konami 005273, I found this thread (forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=373344) and consensus is that the 257 goes bad more often than the resistor array. Also easy to source to check out... Either way, love these types of vids, :)
