The ego likes to think that by sharing the mistakes and wrongdoings of another person with them, we can somehow “correct” who they are. As if that is the path toward harmony and connection.
That’s not how it works. So often in relationships when we make mistakes, we think, “Well, I just told them what I really think like I was supposed to do.” But if people don’t feel a basic affirmation from us, then they’re not going to hear us. No matter what we say or how we say it.
That's why the Course in Miracles says that your job is to tell your brother he is right, even when he's wrong. That doesn't mean to tell him that verbally. It means that we can communicate non-verbally to someone. We can think with love. And in doing so, see only love in each other - and the love in ourselves.
When we are willing to see the innocence in each other, that lies beyond the mistakes, everything changes. Our function then becomes to see and affirm the truth in other and all people. That’s the namaste consciousness.
