Amazing, now to down size that for single family. I dig the community vibe, yet not too hip on alot of the described communal "ammenities" .

A 3-bedroom 1-bath residence/retrofit option for the 3-dome cluster is currently under development. When complete, a similar retrofit could be applied to the 6-dome cluster too.

it looks like you spent a lot of thought and time on this animation so I don't want to be one of those people who just find fault with everything. I'm glad there are people thinking along these lines, creating small scale villages for people as an alternative to modern expensive and built to fail housing.

What software did you use to construct the models and video?
@onecommunityorg3 жыл бұрын
Most renders were done using SketchUp, and then Photoshop additions to make them more realistic. Our videos are made using Final Cut Pro.

Looks great but where are the bathrooms?
@onecommunityorg4 жыл бұрын
These questions from the FAQ on the website answer this: Q: What is the bathroom and shower to living-unit ratio, and how far are they from the homes? For this seventy-two unit village there are 24 bathroom stalls and 20 showers built into the layout. The units the farthest away from the showers are about 120 ft (36.58 m) away. The units the farthest away from the bathrooms are about 150 ft (45.72 m) away. Q: Why aren't bathrooms included with each residence? Bathrooms were not included with each residence to demonstrate maximum affordability, simplicity for replication, and speed of construction for this village. Q: What about composting toilets that don't require plumbing? Our county said doing this for the whole village would require us to still install plumbing for regular toilets. Having communal toilets available as they are though makes this additional plumbing no longer necessary, so people could include a composting toilet in their dome if they want to. Q: What about designs with toilets? Multi-dome residences are being designed with a small "wet-dome" that includes a shower, toilet, and small kitchen. These home options will be available for those who want to pay for the additional expense and do the additional work to construct them. Group labor will assist in building the base unit parts of the homes, the parts without plumbing and as described in the video, once everyone who wants a base unit home has one.

Fantastic, been thinking about doing a project like this. How can you collect water if their isn't much of a water source? Also can this be done on a larger scale? 20+ ac?
@onecommunityorg2 жыл бұрын
Could definitely be scaled up. Gravity fed plumbing to areas like the greywater ponds is the biggest challenge when going bigger. For water catchment, the less rain you have, the larger the catchment area you need. Water retention is also key, establish ground cover and grow a draught tolerant food forest.

@@onecommunityorg Awesome, thanks for the insight. Could you guys suggest a designer, to help design a large scale modern modular of this concept, or could i simple just add on to your exisiting blueprints and design? Have a great day and keep up the great work inspiring people!
@onecommunityorg2 жыл бұрын
@@maplebear3705 We're still finishing everything needed for these to be buildable plans, so you can use the floor plan but plumbing and electrical aren't complete yet. If you want to hire someone to modify the existing plans, I'd recommend the people who helped create ours. They are all listed at the bottom of the open source hub and you can contact them with a proposal through their links there.

Alibaba may be an option too, ordering directly from China would probably be the lowest cost as many companies buy from there and up-sell here.

This village is meant to be paired with this structure that provides a community version of those: www.onecommunityglobal.org/duplicable-city-center/ The 3 and 6-dome clusters though can also be enclosed to create a multi-room home with a kitchen, large central living room, and rooftop patio.
