@gorgonramsey3719 Жыл бұрын
She still lied. Hanako said that she'd "help V", and she clearly didn't do that. She put them into a hospital, yes, but considering that Saburo clearly sees V as either a threat or a powerful resource, it's obvious that he either wants them to survive as the new Adam Smasher, or die . Honestly, the best thing that can happen in this route is V going back to earth to sell the data they got from the relic to Militech, which would not just be worth billions but would also get them in good graces with another large Megacorp, and this time, it's one that doesn't have a reason to kill or enslave them. For all they know, V is just a mercenary that got caught up in Arasaka politics unintentionally, gaining valuable intel in the process, all somehow without dying. If anything, Militech would offer them help as a signing bonus, especially considering that they'd have Stout vouching for them.

@madeline695111 ай бұрын
@@gorgonramsey3719 I don't think either Saburo or Hanako concern themselves with your existence after the successful stabilisation of the company. They see themselves as gods, and in this economy they might as well be. V is just a happy coincidence, in that they can help advance the knowledge on Relic-related procedures, but that's about it. Saburo's engram even laughs at you if you relay to him a "friendly" message from Johnny. You're one of the most powerful mercs in Night City, and they laugh at you. The game takes careful strides to always remind you that no matter how powerful you are, how much cyberware or gunpower you pack, the corps are a different beast entirely. They're like an eldritch horror that can't be hurt if you merely enact physical harm. Much like Saburo, corps come back in an even more horrific and violent way. That's why I think Hanako truly doesn't lie at all. From her point of view, she extended the greatest boon she had to offer. In exchange for preserving her power, you get a little bit of fleeting hope (which, to be honest, is hard to come by in NC) and an honour to further Arasaka's greatest project. Heres something from georgia tech, which im sure you never read about: "A branching story structure is a story graph - a directed graph of nodes connected by arcs that represent user choices. Every possible path through the graph represents a story that can be told to the user." Do you think different stories are being told here? even by the end of one small conversation, Hanako is already reverting to the exact same dialogue, no matter the choices you make. There is no branching in cyberpunk, the story is exactly the same for everyone. Your "choices" are play the game, or don't play it, leaving side missions undone are the only driving force behind any change, tiny as it may be.
@Jereb3432 жыл бұрын
@@joeallen7781 it is fascinating to me how you make a statement and then disprove it right after. You yourself claim that any number of different paths through the given nodes represent a different story being told and then claim that doesn't work here cuz it's only a single story here (which it isn't but never mind that). If an encounter with Hanako has numerous nodes in it that you can or cannot go through then each exclusion or inclusion represents a new branch. The fact that the conversation has a fixed conclusion means nothing and is akin to claiming that a walk through the forest and along the highway are equivalent cuz you always end up at the same place. Which you don't in cyberpunk cuz many conversations do end differently based on what you say and do but I'm sure you don't know about that. Your attempt at being an intellectual only makes you look dumber in the process

More akin representation would be a walk in the woods, but because theres "branching", if you're just the right amount of attentive, you might notice a second or third tree that you didn't notice before. Congratulations, did that change any aspect of the forest? seems for you, it did, but don't mind me, i just cannot reach your 300 IQ levels of intelect. Siding with Hanako and accepting her deal to V is actually the only way you can live further. In every other ending, V dies after a couple months. Storing your mind in Mikoshi is really just the only way there is any possible hope for the future. In my playthrough I just felt like that would be the best option, because in reality I would do the same. You have 6 months to live. No matter how you spend them, it would only get worse and worse until you die. If you accept Hanako's deal, well, you do technically die, however if Hanako chooses to keep her word, V might live sometime in the future in a new body. Now you could say, why would Hanako kept her word when, by accepting her deal, you are practically giving her all your rights to your body? There is no definitive answer whether she will keep her word or no, although, in my playthrough we did get along fairly well, so there might be higher chance of rescue if you were to get on her good side rather than help her but constantly show that it is your only option and you don't like doing so. However as for the answer, even if there is 1% chance Hanako will keep her deal, it is still more than zero, and considering that we basically rescued her and kept our word when it came to not hurting her brother, I do believe she would likely keep her word.
@noahmendoza85482 жыл бұрын
But like you said, you still do die. Even if V lives again in a new body, it’s not this V, the “real” V. It’s a copy. So you don’t really live any longer.
@dauphongii2 жыл бұрын
@@noahmendoza8548 it's actually just your body that dies. Your mind is stored and your mind is what makes you. You can see that Saburo is still very much Saburo, and actually didn't die. When his body was removed, when his mind was stored and he received new body, Saburo was aware. So there is no copy paradox. It is still you, it is not a copy who will act like you.
@noahmendoza85482 жыл бұрын
@@dauphongii well I guess the game doesn’t really emphasize this theme so perhaps maybe in this universe somehow your “soul” does really transfer, but they do allude to it with the ship of Theseus bit when you’re in the Arasaka station. My point is that yes, the engram created from soul killer is the real you from what we can tell. It is the essence of everything you are up to that point, and it is sentient and capable of learning, changing, and growing as we can see from saburo and Johnny. To those engrams, it doesn’t even feel like they died probably. But they did. If you or I were to go through soul killer, we wouldn’t suddenly wake up in cyberspace or in a new body. Our engrams would, and to them it would seem like a perfect transition. But the real you, that is thinking and breathing right now, 100% dies. Again, I guess I could be wrong about Cyberpunk’s take on this concept but I do think they suggest this. Games like Soma base their whole story around this concept and it’s pretty compelling IMO. Adds a whole new sinister layer to the idea of human digitization and the question of the soul.
@dauphongii2 жыл бұрын
@@noahmendoza8548 i believe it is your body that dies, not your soul, although it is called soul killer, but the thing is, we don't really know until we try. you can't tell a person died if the person is still very alive. so maybe you are right and you do die, or maybe not, the thing is, it is very probable that not even Arasaka knows this, since knowing this would require for you to go through the soul killer yourself, and if a 'copy' of you is made who still retains your memories and is very much alive, you can't tell if it's the old you or really a copy.
@noahmendoza85482 жыл бұрын
@@dauphongii I do think you’re right that even Arasaka and the game’s characters don’t really understand this. But this is a a pretty common sci-fi trope, especially in the cyberpunk genre. Like I said, go look up the ending of Soma if you want an example of someone being horrified to realize that when they get “copied”, it’s just that, and you get left behind in a state of confusion as your copy goes on to safety while you wait to die. But if that doesn’t convince you, look at Cyberpunk 2077 itself. The ONLY character that really understands this concept in the game appears to be Alt, who herself created the technology to do it. She tries over and over again to explain to Johnny that she is NOT Alt, that soul killer quite literally killed her soul and she is just a representation of alt made up of bits and bytes, even though she is sentient and many of the emotions remain.
